Emergency Pet Portrait Commissions And Fundraiser

GOFUNDME LINK Hello, My name is Marisa and Dai is my 12-year-old canine best friend. She has been with me since I found her as a stray when I was in college almost a decade ago.

She has recently developed a potentially cancerous growth on her rear that is open and bleeding/weeping. Her vet has informed us that she needs emergency surgery as soon as possible to remove it. Both to test for cancer but also because it is currently an open wound that cannot be shut and can cause her to go septic if left to get infected, as well as simply the pain / quality of life issues she is currently facing with it.

On top of being an older dog, Dai has a heart condition that makes this surgery high risk for her, as such she will need to visit her cardiologist and have a full workup and exam on top of the surgery itself, to asses her current level of risk and give the veterinary surgeons all information possible to do what they can for Dai's heart with the anesthesia as they operate.

I am of course, dedicated to doing EVERYTHING I can to do right by Dai, and am following all requests and directions from her vet and care team to the letter.

However, I have had a series of health emergencies Myself this year, and due to that do not have the funds to actually cover the costs of Dai's procedures, which kills me.

I am starting this campaign and offering emergency commissions to seek help in raising the funds for her as a last resort out of desperation, anything that can be spared is greatly appreciated, I know these are tough times for Everyone not just Dai and I, so I also understand if there is nothing to give, but if you are in a position to be able to donate, and have a desire to, or even just to share, Dai and I both would like to express our immense gratitude.

"Here Comes the Moon" 🌕🌵🚘 - one-shot horror mini comic based on a freewrite exercise I did in class over the summer! Took inspiration from the many late night drives I've done in the desert and one memorable 2 am drive in South Carolina where the moon truly LOOMED over me.

Uploaded as spreads as I'm pretty proud of how they turned out. This will be included in an upcoming collaborative anthology zine I'm editing, and likely as its own standalone minizine!

i celebrated turning in my thesis anthology excerpt by watching swan princess and felt the Urge to Draw Her so here's a sketch.

extremely proud of this new index card linocut! tbh I haven't spoken out on social media as much as I would like about my feelings on the atrocities happening in Palestine. I know there is privilege that comes with this statement, but I felt paralyzed and unsure what to do or say, and the longer it went the harder it felt. Make no mistake, I believe in a free Palestine, and have had offline conversations at length, but I know this genocide that so many try to sweep under the rug requires visible activism.

With a new year of zinefests coming around the corner, I finally felt I could do something, and so this print was created. The design features three important national symbols for Palestine: the Palestinian Sunbird (or Shinara), the poppy, and the olive tree. Again, I'm really pleased with how it turned out, and they will be available when I table at @prideinpanels this sunday as well as @printpomonaartbookfair in early march!

All proceeds from these prints will go towards purchasing e-sims for Gaza, (organized by @mirna_elhelbawi) I will be selling these in person all year, but if you are not in the la/sf area and you would like a print, dm me proof of a donation you made to help aid Palestine, and I will send you a print by mail.
