fat men are so demonized and desexualized and treated so badly in media, that growing up fat is really just so depressing. Most portrayals of fat men in media them being the punchline or the gross monster or the creeper villian, and then you get bullied for that when you can't control it by both peers and adults, and its legitimately upsetting to have to grow up surrounded by that stigma and that shame. How many times in life have you seen a picture of a fat guy be used as a caricature of a bigot, and people found it funny? These jokes are fat shaming and harmful.

I've even seen people who claim to be body positive turn around and body shame men and say such awful things about us, like how we did this to ourselves or how we deserve to be mistreated or we're ugly or unsanitary or any other insult under the sun. Its so insidious and disgusting, especially when its directed towards male body positivity or plus size men being confident in their appearance. No gender is exempt from doing this, I've seen both men and women and sometimes even nonbinary people do this.

I'm not saying mainstream body positivity isn't bad, or that women aren't fatshamed too, or that some men can't be creepy and fat at the same time. I'm just saying frankly people could do better and be better allies to plus-size men, without making us out to be a fetish or a fear.

the problem with trying to define who is and isn’t lgbt+ is like….that’s…not….really how it works…..

like we don’t have membership. there’s no test to take. no one has a roster of people with gay credentials. and even if there were, the people demanding this stuff aren’t part of any High Council with the power to banish people. if someone says they’re lgbt+ the traditional way of dealing with it is just…believing them and not bothering to comb through every action they’ve taken to prove anything. and labels are so deeply personal and the possibility of mislabeling yourself is always on the table, so it’s really just like. if you feel an affinity for the community then sure. you’re probably right, at the very least you’re questioning now. so what up enjoy your stay.

This doesnt go against their ideology because terfs dont hate trans people. They hate trans women and this is part of why i keep trying to get y’all to understand that. I literally lived with a nonbinary terf for a year and she constantly used the fact that she was nonbinary to counter any time ppl pointed out her transmisogyny—tho at the time, the only term me and my friends knew was general transphobia instead which was way easier for her to dodge.

There are literally terfs in trans spaces, is why this is so so important. There are literally terfs who are trans men. Yea it seems like a contradiction, but to them it really isnt. Stop viewing it as “terfs vs trans people” when they specifically have it out for us, and check your trans tme friends and whatever on their transmisogyny.
