HIGHLY SUBJECTIVE COMMENTARY ALERT: “Boxcar Sessions” is one of the best, if not the best, rap albums ever. Please don’t clog my inbox with weird messages bout “the real hip hop” or what a “new jack” I am, I’ve been listening to this shit since you were sucking on your mom’s dick. Super-layered production in a Bomb Squad style, incredible rapping, cohesive to the max. @Citiesofdope upgraded me from a cassette dub of this to the real thing shortly after our introduction in the summer of 95 and it consistently gets more burn than anything except maybe OBCL, Extinction Agenda, Low End Theory, Paul’s Boutique, Breaking Atoms, and Death Certificate. That’s some pretty esteemed company. Saafir’s life story is fascinating and unfortunately his current circumstances seem pretty dire.
