There had been an influx of new followers [much to my surprise most of them real blogs and not porn stuff] so I decided to log back in and let you amazing people know, there won’t ever be new content on this blog. Hello nonny. well, I heard about this project last night and as I listened to it, my first thought was Davey and although we can't be sure right now, there is little that convince me otherwise that it isn't him. I do think he has his reasons why he doesn't want people to know it's him singing/behind this project. Actually, I just said on the DF that maybe the person behind this project wants the people to focus on the songs and the message rather than the people involved? Just an idea. Then again, it is hard not to wonder who are the guys behind xtrmst, and as long as we don't have a clear answer, people will rather wonder and talk about the persons behind it than the songs :)

I’m allowed to pay a shit ton for their music and merch and a fan club that gives me ‘perks’ that I can’t use. I am NOT allowed to see and enjoy their music live. I am NOT given an answer when I ask why that is so. I am NOT even allowed to take part in a contest.

Thanks for nothing, AFI. I hope you enjoy being a support act for other bands whose fans won’t even pay attention to you while they’re waiting for their heroes to come on stage. It’s gonna suck but hey, at least you won’t have to go away from your precious home country for it and, God forbid, come to Europania!

A band, to me, is always made up of the members and everyone involved in getting this thing up and going. Thus, my rant above, is directed at the band members AND their crew.

Also, there are a lot of good examples of artists stepping in when something is going seriously wrong. Whereas AFI, upon noticing that European fans were getting desperate and not receiving an answer, chose to react to fans’ enquiries with short-tempered remarks, my favorite of which being Hunter’s “UNKNOWN” replies on Instagram. Geez, I’m sorry we’re bugging you with our wish to see our favourite band and getting a piece of the cake THAT WE HELPED FINANCE!

I really don’t think they have as much of a say about where they end up as you think. I mean, if you look up to them that much you’ll realize that they don’t control it all. Why are you so angry at them?

I think a part of why AFI hasn't toured Europe is simply that they can't make it financially feasible for a number of reasons. Their fanbase probably isn't as big over there as it was when they were on a major label. Secondly, they don't have a major label helping them foot the bill for the tour over there to travel as they are accustomed to. When Placebo (one of my all time favorite bands) tours, they just completely skip over the US for the past couple of albums because they just don't have the fans to justify a tour. I'd imagine that it is pretty similar for AFI. To be blunt, it just sucks that they (probably) can't afford to tour over there. Money is probably the reason they're touring with 30stm and Linkin Park.

About the DF, I joined back in 2007 well after most of cool 'perks' went on. The presales and meet & greets must have been pretty cool at the time. It was more about being able to show my support for the band and connecting with other fans. It was never a 'status' thing for me or about the 'perks'. You're perfectly entitled to feel that you've been "jipped" or "robbed" but I do think you need a bit of perspective. AFI has done an incredible amount of stuff for their fans (hello, STS mystery?) but I think fans like you need to realize that while the band is appreciative of your support, they don't actually owe you anything personally. Whatever you think the band personally owes you, is purely in your mind.

I think what a lot of US fans don't understand is, we didn't get any promotion for the single or the album and this is the second time it happened. They have a major label here that is suppose to do the job, but they can only do what Republic Records tells them to do. Which means the decision came from Republic Records for reasons we don't know. But that is not what I want to talk about here. I want to talk about the lack of promotion.

Let us go back to the end of last year when IHYS and 17Crimes had been released. You saw plenty of posts about the US release on twitter and facebook with links to Amazon and iTunes, there had been HUGE ads on AFI's website, right? Remember? Do you also remember the only date that had been displayed was the date of the US release? Yep, that was the case. Putting another date of the release of these single on these posts/ads wouldn't have cost nothing. Not one bit. What makes this even more horrible is the fact that both single had been available for European fans days before the US release on iTunes. And I mean days. I think 17Crimes had been available in the UK for five days in advance, but no one knew about it because they didn't tell us!

Now as for the Burials release once again no promotion. Nothing. There had been NO interviews in music magazines, no interview for the European press that hadn't been the UK nothing. Once again, a short email interview hadn't cost one of the guys maybe five minutes, nothing more and nothing less.

Why I tell you this? That is simple: Without promotion it is impossible to let the people know AFI is back. Without promotion people can't buy the records, single, tickets to show their interest in the band. As an European fan if you are not hardcore involved in the fanbase you hear nothing from them. And I mean nothing. Back as CL was released people who were fans but actually have a life and no way to stay updated on what is happening with them, they didn't know they had been in Germany for two gigs. Some of them didn't even KNOW there had been a new album. Before you try to tell me that then they are no true fans, sit down and keep your mouth shut. I like a lot of bands and I too missed the release date of an album because I didn't hear about it before.

So what do I want to say with that? It's simple. If you don't promote the band and the album then they are forgotten by the fans, so easy is that. And without promotion there are no new fans either. I have at least 30 people within my friends who would go to an AFI show and who live close to me, if it wasn't for me they hadn't known about them releasing something.

I'm a bit mad at the band, I have to admit that. Like citylightslikerain already said, every band HAS a say in what they do and where they tour. BUT I'm more than just pissed off with Republic Records and Velvet Hammer for the lack of promotion and lack of interest in the European fanbase and giving us the feeling as if we are not worth their time and effort. Ever since it was announced AFI would release a new album, Europe had been left behind and it makes me feel like I'm a second class fan and if anyone is telling me I'm not allowed to be angry about it, then I have to tell you you are fucking wrong. I know people on here already tried to get in touch with the European booking management and even send emails to UK record label, but I do think it is too late. Everything had started last year with the lack of promotion and back then citylightslikerain pointed it out, starting a petition for people to sign so RR would see we are here, we are waiting for AFI to come to Europe and for them to promote this amazing album as much as possible because it is amazing. People didn't share the link for said petition and it didn't get enough attention which is a shame and only shows how little the AFI community stick together because even if you live in the US you could have reblogged it, but oh well.

Davey himself said in the Blaqk Audio interview I did with him he would come to Europe with BBH if 'the album was well received'. But there had been the same problem, no promotion before the released so no one knew about the record and of course the selling numbers are disappointing. If this is the same with Burials, it is RRs and VHs fault and if that is the case I do hope AFI will find a new record label and a new management who can remedy what those two ruined.
