This event was built upon the success of the 2021 ICAO Stocktaking, which provided a forum for stakeholders to exchange ambitious plans for decarbonizing international aviation, including discussions on policies and concrete roadmaps to zero emissions.

The 2021 event was inspired by green innovations brought forward through the ICAO Global Coalition for Sustainable Aviation, which serves as a forum of stakeholders within and beyond the aviation sector to facilitate the development of new ideas and accelerate the implementation of solutions that will further reduce aviation emissions at source, on the ground or in the sky.
The 2022 ICAO Stocktaking have provided a further opportunity to hear from Coalition partners on the progress of innovations in aviation CO2 emissions reductions, and will enable the sharing of the latest relevant information on technology, operations and fuels, as well as set the scene for the subsequent ICAO High-level Meeting on the Feasibility of a Long-term Global Aspirational Goal (HLM-LTAG), to be held as a hybrid event from 19 to 22 July 2022.

Invitation to attend the 41st Session of the Assembly.
Sir/Madam,
I have the honour to extend to your Government/Organization, on behalf of the Council of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), an invitation to participate in the 41st Session of the Assembly of ICAO which will be held from 27 September to 7 October 2022. The meeting is open to all Member States. Representatives of non-Member States, Palestine and international organizations, as invited by the Council, may participate in the meeting with observer status. It should be noted that the current intention is for the Assembly session to be convened as an in-person event in Montréal. However, the evolving situation concerning the COVID-19 pandemic and the implications arising from the associated health and travel restrictions are being carefully monitored on an ongoing basis and in this connection, further details on venue and format of the meeting will be conveyed in subsequent communications.
The Provisional Agenda of the Assembly, as approved by the Council, is presented in Attachment. A together with explanatory notes on each agenda item. Any items that the Council may decide to add will be communicated to you immediately. Member States wishing to submit proposals for the addition of items should do so by 17 August 2022. It is recalled that should a Member State wish to propose a new initiative or project activity that has budget implications for the Organization, it would be required to include a cost estimate for its proposal. In this connection, the Member State is required to develop the new initiative or project activity in consultation with the Secretariat, and to submit the proposal before 1 June 2022, for consideration and decision by the Council for inclusion in the draft budget submission. Information on credentials, which should preferably be sent by 31 August 2022, is provided in Attachment B. Details on documentation and other administrative arrangements will be communicated under cover of a separate letter. Further updates and additional information relating to the convening of the 41st Session of the ICAO Assembly will also be made available. In order to avoid unnecessary delays at the opening of the Assembly session, all participants are strongly encouraged to pre-register online.Delegates who have pre-registered online, submitted a compliant picture and have their original credentials in order will be eligible for a fast issuance of their event badge. Identify the opportunities to approach those challenges differently, to the benefit of air mobility.
The aerospace industry has started a technological revolution, with the multiplication of eVTOL projects within existing aviation companies and in start-ups, building upon legacy OEM experience and some being driven by aviation enthusiasts who are exploring new forms of mobility. Some will be ready to enter into service by 2025, however, work is still on-going on an enabling globally harmonized regulatory framework. Regulators, concept developers, manufacturers, air navigation service providers and the global aviation community, at large, must work together to ensure a safe and orderly entry of this new technology into airspace.In this context, it is essential to understand the respective challenges of both eVTOL developers and regulators, as those may also be shared in other parts of the world. The conversation held during the webinar aims to identify the opportunities to approach those challenges differently, to the benefit of air mobility.

This webinar gives an overview of ICAO's Innovation Workshop, which covers the fundamentals of innovation in aviation - what innovation means and how it exists in the aviation sector. ICAO global planning for safety and air navigation.
Whereas ICAO strives to achieve the goal of a safe and orderly development of civil aviation through cooperation among Member States and other stakeholders; Whereas to realize this goal, the Organization has established Strategic Objectives, including objectives for safety and for capacity and efficiency; Recognizing the importance of global frameworks to support the Strategic Objectives of ICAO; Recognizing the importance of effective implementation of regional and national plans and initiatives based on the global frameworks; Recognizing that further progress in improving the global safety, capacity and efficiency of civil aviation is best achieved through a cooperative, collaborative and coordinated approach in partnership with all stakeholders under the leadership of ICAO; and Noting the approval by the Council of the third edition of the Global Aviation Safety Plan (GASP) and of the sixth edition of the Global Air Navigation Plan (GANP); The Assembly:
Endorses the third edition of the Global Aviation Safety Plan (GASP) and the sixth edition of the Global Air Navigation Plan (GANP) as the global strategic directions for safety and air navigation, respectively;
Resolves that ICAO shall implement and keep current the GASP and the GANP to support the relevant Strategic Objectives of the Organization, while ensuring necessary stability;
Resolves that these global plans shall be implemented and kept current in close cooperation and coordination with all concerned stakeholders;
Resolves that these global plans shall provide the frameworks in which regional, subregional and national plans will be developed and implemented, thus ensuring consistency, harmonization and coordination of efforts aimed at improving international civil aviation safety, capacity and efficiency;
Urges Member States to develop sustainable solutions to fully exercise their safety oversight and air navigation responsibilities which can be achieved by sharing resources, utilizing internal and/or external resources, such as regional and subregional organizations and the expertise of other States;
Urges Member States to demonstrate the political will necessary for taking remedial actions to address safety and air navigation deficiencies, including those identified by Universal Safety Oversight Audit Programme (USOAP), through the GASP, the GANP and the ICAO regional planning process;
Urges Member States, the industry and financing institutions to provide the needed support for the coordinated implementation of the GASP and GANP, avoiding duplication of efforts;
Calls upon States and invites other stakeholders to cooperate in the development and implementation of regional, subregional and national plans based on the frameworks of the GASP and GANP;
Instructs the Secretary General to promote, make available and effectively communicate the GASP and the GANP; and
Declares that this resolution supersedes Resolution A39-12 on ICAO global planning for safety and air navigation.
