Her name is Fishstick and she can't escape the digital island

Fishstick started the island as an authoritative manipulator who wanted to keep tabs on everyone all the time, but since Waffles (her underappreciated secretary) confessed her love to her, Fishstick has been going through a redemption arc

She still doesn't like when other residents do things without her approval. For example, when Isabelle from Animal Crossing hired the Engineer Monkey from BTD5 as an urban planning contractor, Fishstick reverted to her manipulative ways and got angry when the conversation didn't go her way

Waffles is easily the best character on this island and I want everything good in the world to happen to her

After blazing through revisions of the first 2 chapters of Episode 1 I have hit a highly anticipated roadblock

Chapter 3 is longer than the entire revised Prologue btw

I hate 16 year old me

After chapters 3 and 4, though, it's kinda smooth sailing to the end of Episode 1. I can't wait to revisit Heist Buddies and Party Crashers in particular

Fanfic revision progress UPDATE

I finished revising the Prologue, but unfortunately I can't post it until I do all the Episode 1 chapters because it'd mess with the continuity. I'm pretty proud of what I made out of the messy Prologue though.

It now has its own focused, clear plot about RJ and Heather using the family to go out on their shenanigans in the suburbs since Ozzie and Verne won't let the two go alone. Showing how RJ and Heather are after valuables like CDs instead of food and how they have more ambitious plans than the rest of the family is the perfect intro to this canon. They don't want to just live comfortably, they want to conquer. It transitions well into the RJ/Verne and Heather/Ozzie conflicts in Episode 1, too

Here's the word count, to give you a preview (assuming I don't decide to cut anything else):

Old Prologue: 44k

New Prologue: 33k

In a sense, I do feel bad about cutting so much because I put all that effort into typing it 5 years ago, but man did I really not know how to write a good flow. Characters were interacting all over the place in ways not relevant to the plot but I wrote them with the same level of detail as everything else so it was hard to tell what was supposed to be important and what wasn't. And the action scenes were ESPECIALLY word-heavy - either really slow to read or bloated with slapstick. I know the first half of Episode 1 is just like that too and there's way more action scenes there (oh god). It's so hard to keep track of my own plot sometimes

Unlike Episode 1, which has some REALLY good scenes amongst all the bloat, the Prologue was consistently mid all the way through. The new version still isn't terribly deep or exciting but it's very digestible

I love Claude's whole ending about it being a "new dawn" because when I picture a new dawn I think of this minecraft song. It sounds especially atmospheric of the view you get from the goddess tower in these s-support artworks
