Here’s a personal project I’ve been revisiting over the last couple weeks. It began as a mock-up for a playing card of a femme fatale character.
A few character animations done for Shroommates, a light-hearted stealth game where you play as a mushroom trying to grow as big as possible while avoiding being spotted by your human “roommate.”
Roommate - Attacking & idle animations
Mushroom - Walking & climbing animations
Here’s some illustrative work I’ve been up to lately. Two panels from Devil Girl at Santa Cruz Comics.
Here’s Spicy, an orc pirate I designed for a D&D campaign. She’s rambunctious and rowdy and loves to make her enemies walk the plank. She keeps trophies from her battles and adds them to her axe, which she’s affectionately named Squealer.
Here are a couple character concepts for Beat-Em-Up, a fighting game with rhythm game elements we’re prototyping at UC Santa Cruz!
Electroswing gal Lindy Hop’s moves are based off of swing dancing, so she has lots of flashy moves in her arsenal. Lindy is classy and a bit vain.
Vaporwave gal Sampler is an overconfident and cheeky rollerblading star and her dance moves are mostly cool poses she learned from the internet.
I’m doing the work on Lindy Hop’s animations and poses right now, so here’s a roughed out walk and two attacks of hers - mega drill and heel kick.
Here is the animated sequence for Starlet’s rhythm battle, now playable in the demo for COMA on itch.io!
Here’s some progress shots of the low poly model. The hat and hair were fairly easy! Still messing with the toon shader to see how it looks.
Decided to practice some more with 3d modeling over the summer, so here’s a quick stylized front/back view of Claret I’ll be working on!
Some expression sprites for Out Of Hand, a handshaking game I worked on at UCSC’s 2016 Global Game Jam.
Here’s a poster I colorized for “Don’t Yell At Me, I’m Trying To Keep Us Alive,” a cooperative mech piloting VR game.
Here’s Claret, a Tiefling rogue character I designed for a D&D campaign. Her inventory, and some alternate outfits.Â
The hacker enemy for Don’t Yell is rigged and done! You can view it here on my artstation.
Some animations I created of the teenage sister in our conversation simulator, “Say Again.”
Some animations I created of the mom in our conversation simulator, “Say Again.”
Some nice final shots of the astronaut girl from my artstation.
You can view her full model here.
A quick look at a character I’m modeling.
Here's BreadQuest, winner of the Foundation Prize at the 2015 Sammy Awards! BreadQuest was made by Courtney Chavez in Gamemaker Studio 1.4 for CMPM 80K during her freshman year at UC Santa Cruz.
