Imagine being able to remember EVERYTHING that goes on in your day. Or night. Or a whole week. After hearing about the “Narrative Clip,” a tiny device that snaps photos of you and your surroundings every thirty seconds, I began to consider the possibilities.
My roommate, a bit of a drinker,…
Reading you post really made me think of some of the benefits that the Narrative Clip can have on people’s lives. It would definitely make it easier to record those day to day activities that you normally would not remember. And while I can see how if we got this technology we would eventually get use to it. It would just become part of our routine.
Still I cannot help but really hate the idea. It makes me uncomfortable to think about people constantly taking pictures of me. Of course we are caught by cameras everyday. But there is a difference. These pictures are the possession of people we know and they can be used to embarrass us and make us feel self-conscious.
Once these are out and growing in popularity we will become more and more enclosed and conscious of our actions. People will feel the need to pay attention to make sure that an eye roll at their friend doesn’t get caught. Or an embarrassing face is not recorded.
It will make people become more withdrawn than they all ready are.
Or I suppose you could consider it as some people not being able to handle the changes. They would be stuck in the past and may end up become less involved in the changes in technology. At some point this will happen to all of us. I just hope that I will be able to adjust as things change even more dramatically.
