Today is the day we as a country decide if a person with a uterus is an equal citizen with full body autonomy.

Full. Stop.

There is no other argument. Either a woman can control her body or she cannot. Everything else is personal or religious belief and choice.

I am pro life however that too comes with caveats. In a violent criminal act no one should be forced to carry that child. I also feel it is not my right to impose my choice on someone else. I can only ask the woman, why does she get to impose her right to choose on someone else, the baby? Then let her think.

Al....it is still HER body to have control over.

I terminated a pregnancy at 6 weeks. That fetus could not have survived outside of my body hosting it for at least another 14 to 16 weeks (have you worked with micro-preemies? I have....even when viable at 22 weeks, the outcomes are often tragic).

My body.

My choice.

Not one other person was inside my head or heart regarding what I was feeling or thinking, or the toll over what the next many months could have meant for my physical, mental, spiritual or financial well being.....and I had two other living, breathing children relying on a healthy momma to nurture and raise them.

Not an easy choice.

But guess what? It also wasn't anyone else's choice. Body autonomy.

Adopt? Sure, I could have gone that route. But as someone who doesn't and will never understand how it truly feels to be pregnant, sounds mighty dismissive to assume that carrying a baby to term and putting it up for adoption could be LESS physically, emotionally, spiritually or financially damaging to the woman than terminating a non viable fetus.

I applaud and support every woman who has ever had to make a difficult choice about keeping or terminating a pregnancy. Each choice was theirs to make, even if it wouldn't have been my choice.

But it doesn't matter.

What matters is a government who allows women the same freedom over their bodies as it allows men.

That is why it us not for me to decide. I can't, I don't like abortion of a healthy life, HOWEVER, will I never judge someone for their choice.

I believe vasectomys are a more viable option for birth control just shy of abstaining as the best. But the gov would not say a snip is an option.

Well no....the government isn't going to step in and try to control men's bodies!!! Not with vasectomy nor with monetary or criminal fines for causing unwanted pregnancies or terminated pregnancies, nor with required support for the gestational carrier.

Which brings us back to the original point.....control over OTHER WOMEN'S bodies means that the government (and those who elect them) do not believe that women have the same rights to body autonomy.

(And if one more Anti-Vaxxer claims the above slogan related to COVID but doesn't support it related to reproductive health??? Well, the hypocrisy is looming large on that one as well.)
