This passage from Rachel Kushner’s new novel reminded me of an argument my mom + grandmother had when my grandmother declared her favourite dessert was blancmange

had a dream I was organising an exhibition & I had to coordinate international art shipping and gently tell someone their poetry wasn’t going to be included, I woke up so relieved

I alphabetised my bookshelf & organised it by theme. My fave parts are the mysticism section (middle of the bottom shelf) and the slutty non fiction & art crit section (second to top shelf on the left)

couldn’t sleep last night so I did what any sane human would do & lay on the couch with the kittens watching YouTube from 4am to 9:30, had a giant bowl of oats (with dates, apples, tahini & maple syrup) and an apple turnover, and smoked a cigarette leftover from a night out I found in my jacket pocket

sometimes I struggle with what to do with myself on weekend days if I’m not a. working or b. hungover which is a terrible quality I am actively working on. being productive doesn’t feel right, I leave that for the weekdays. being creative can feel nice, but only if it’s actual creativity and not like, wrestling with Final Cut or whatever. outdoor adventures also work but I’m not always up for that, & also sometimes better left to the weekdays bc no risk of crowds .. anyway the option that has really worked recently has been taking on an elaborate cooking project. today I made two gardeners pies (vegan shepherds pie), one for the fridge, one for the freezer, what a relief it was to have an activity with a clear beginning and ending that kept me off my phone for many hours

sitting in my neighbours empty flat drinking an alcohol free beer on a quiet quiet Saturday evening

never been a boots girlie but recently I’ve been craving some, sometimes I feel a bit .. twee I guess when I wear a miniskirt with any of my current shoe options, I feel like boots might balance them out better. anyway here I am sublimating that desire by wearing loafers w/ knee high socks

mmm .. taking a shower then bundling up & cycling to work & feeling freshly showered under my many layers .. a good feeling

girls be like “I really needed this” and it’s just a long train ride with a book & a walk along the coast

having the most indecisive weekend ever I really want to go on an outdoor adventure but can’t justify spending £17 on the train so I can see the ocean so maybe I should cycle somewhere instead but I really need to see the ocean

rare savoury breakfast (paratha with arugula & leftover basmati & satay sauce) / rare daytime fit

So lonely & I heard my phone ding four times in quick succession and I thought it was my chaotic texter friend asking me to come over but actually it’s the library saying I have four books to pick up. which like. solves the same problem in a slightly different way
