annette barely thought of eating, so distracted by everything going on around her. she’d been speaking to a few students from aquaria—-oh, she couldn’t wait to go there—-and they’d all been asking each other questions, and now it was her turn. “hmmm, okay. ice breaker: what’s your sign?” the table laughed, she along with it, “come on, it’s fun!”

     It was overwhelming -- all of the people. It had been YEARS since Clarabel had to navigate something like this and she felt equally fascinated & anxious. Still, it was a privilege she’d enjoy, a privilege she’d take in though she didn’t have much time to just observe before a girl -- who was from the same school Caleb was at & also French. Her .... sign? Her face twisted into something mixed with confusion and interest, “I was born May 16th, is that good or bad?? This does seem very VERY fun. ”
