Rainbow's Colors are Black and White
“Success doesn't come overnight. It will come to you in God's perfect time.” The success of Cheryl will show us the importance of patience. A life with no ups and downs isn't really a life at all. In the end, hardships will make our lives even sweeter.
On November 7, 1986, Cheryl Nerbes was born in Calinog, Iloilo. Her grandmother was the one who raised her. After she finished her 1st grade at Guiso Elementary School, her grandmother became aware of her intelligence. She is already able to read dictionaries and encyclopedias at the age of 4. When Cheryl's grandma learned about her abilities, she enrolled her in a Catholic school. At Mary Immaculate School, she later completed her elementary and secondary education. For practical purposes, she chose to take up Bachelor of Secondary Education, major in English and minor in Psychology. Later, she backed down and left her course because it wasn't really her passion. She had no real desire to become a teacher. She got pregnant in 2005 and gave up college. She struggles to get a job because she hasn't even finished college yet. She tried working as a cashier in Gaisano, selling scrap, doing laundry, working as a farmer, and as a housemaid. Later, she attempted to apply for a job as a call center agent but was rejected six times for the same reason: she is an undergraduate. She made the decision to go to Manila and try her luck. She was accepted as a housemaid but later, she quit. Until, she was hired as a skewer in a factory in a former Japanese company. Her leadership abilities and intelligence were later put to use when she was promoted as a checker, where she served as the department supervisor's right hand.
At that time, she met her husband and gave birth to her second child. Due to her pregnancy and the company's strict rules, she was advised to resign. She unexpectedly became pregnant with her youngest daughter as she was about to return to work. Due to her responsibility to provide for her three children's daily needs, she was unable to handle the costs at that time. Furthermore, her husband lost his job. She then made another attempt to apply as a call center agent, and Teleperformance hired her. Cheryl was recommended to the supervisor for a promotion, but since she failed the interview, she made the decision to return to Iloilo. She was beginning to doubt herself at the time and was suffering from imposter syndrome. Cheryl and her family returned to Bicol as a call center agent for a different company. That choice allowed her and her husband to work together. The department experienced a problem with their payroll system, which is unfortunate because she was running for promotion.
At that point, she made the choice to accept one of her coworkers' offer which is hire content writers for her own business. Due to the drive to earn more and support her family's growing needs, she later self-trained to become a virtual assistant. After a few years and with the help of her clients, Cheryl was able to launch her own company, Bizz Essentials, providing virtual support services for solopreneurs and startups in the US. She gave up her own company in September 2022 to work jointly with Write RN, a healthcare content company owned by one of her clients, and she now focuses on managing that business while also taking on new clients. Since 2017 up to the present, she employs Filipino virtual assistants with the mission to help them find a better career and escape a toxic work environment and inhumane management — an opportunity she keeps looking for in the past years, and now she wants to share with others. Her success didn't just improve her life; she also used it to help and inspire others. She is very happy and content because despite numerous failures and "almost there" successes, she believes that greater and better success awaits you.
