Imagine/draw your OC with a bad ass chest tattoo.
it’s one of those tats that makes it look like a hole in your chest, in this case revealing a mechanical heart (i gotta work on it, it’s not easy to draw)

Zaire likes jazz, sweaters and the color orange.
Mikkel lives in a very busy little town with lots of street markets. since his synesthesia involves smells and sounds as colors, he is often overwhelmed by all the strong smells of perfume and spices, as their intense, vibrant color sometimes overloads his senses so much he feels as though he is literally walking through clouds of bright color, and it can cause him to not be able to see where he’s going.
So he keeps his scarf doused in a kind of fragrant oil that has a nice mild scent, in a light, clear blue color. it helps him block out all the more vibrant smells so he can focus on seeing what’s really around him, not the colors of everyone’s perfumes. unfortunately, there’s not much he can do about blocking out all the clashing colors of all the different sounds in such a busy town.
Mikkel has synesthesia. smells and sounds become associated with colors in his mind, so I tried to illustrate that concept here. the smells were easy enough, i just made clouds of color. But I had a harder time with the sounds; I wasn’t sure how to illustrate colored sounds without just doing colored music lines, and i kinda got lazy :/ i’m sure with a bit more practice i’ll figure this out :)
I don’t have any form of synesthesia, but I’m very interested in it. I’ve been doing some research so I can write this character accurately. maybe I should do a webcomic :O
unfortunately, he is one of my neglected characters; I don’t actually have a story for him yet.
i may actually have a form of synesthesia. it's so normal to me i didn't even notice it, but now that i have been learning more about synesthesia and paying more attention to my senses, i noticed that musical sounds are not colors for me, as is more common, but merely abstract shapes. it varies mostly by instrument, and the volume and pitch determine things like the size of the shape
Suri and Mikkel are cousins.
raised almost entirely together in what is essentially India, they were always pretty close, but when they did have arguments it got pretty intense.
Suri’s mother is a native Indian woman, but her father is Russian. Mikkel’s parents are both Indian. However, he has bright green eyes. And synesthesia. For him, smells and sounds become strongly associated with colors.
due to some social superstition, everyone believes he has the green eyes and synesthesia because he was born during the festival of color, but it’s just a happy coincidence.
Suri spent several months studying dance in Russia, and then moved to America and married an ex soldier named Kel. Mikkel has never left his homeland.
oh, and suri is a vampire like her dad.
still trying to figure out how to draw wheelchairs properly. i did get a lot of good looks at some wheelchairs in Utah this weekend; we visited my great grandpa and the veteran’s home he lives in had so many wheelchairs of all different sorts.
so i’ll hopefully be improving in that area a lot more now.
and here it is! at the moment, these are all my queer ocs. i put everyone in the colors of their respective pride flags. as you can see there is a few with both a sexuality flag and a gender flag. i tried to make their individual personalities stand out, because they’re all very unique people. i may make a few other posts that go a bit more in-depth with each character, but for now this is it.
this took me all week to make, and i’m very happy with it.
there’s a few others i could probably shoehorn into this group, but i’m still figuring them out so they’re not here.
just gonna leave this here
What if race bent legend of Zelda.
what a babe
So you know that post that was going around for some time about “what if an outgoing ace and a shy pan were roommates in a sitcom?” Well since I made mikkel pan, I realized that I suddenly had the main cast for it. Shy pan mikkel and genderfluid party loving ace, chacha. They would be such awkward roommates.
Look look, I finally managed to draw a guy that wasn’t all thin and athletic! Geez why are dudes so hard to draw in different body types?
Well at any rate, this is Ayana’s brother Zaire. He wears sweaters most of the time, so this weird rumor started floating around town that he was buff. Not sure how anyone came to that conclusion, but they did. And then someone invited him to a pool party. And it turns out the only six pack he ever has is half a dozen tiny donuts.
an experiment in style. sort of.
these are the various art styles you might find in any of my sketchbooks. semi-realism for character portraits, a more stylized look for emotion practice and character development, a couple simpler styles for sketched comics/story visualizing. and a stylized stick figure because hey, it’s just really fun to draw stick figures ok?
this is one of my original four ocs. his name is Steroj, and he started out as a really bad “evil twin” trope antagonist in my first stories. he came some time after his twin brother, who was originally based on my middle school crush and only served as a really poorly written love interest.
wow how things change. steroj now is a king. he still filled the “evil twin” trope because at a young age he once ran away into the forest to escape his angry father and became possessed by an evil parasitic spirit. his life turned into a lonely mess as he tried several times to destroy the parasite by himself while also avoiding people at all cost so the parasite could not use him to hurt anyone. in the end, his twin brother becomes a doctor to find a way to remove the parasitic spirit and it ends well. the older twin stays a doctor while the younger twin gets the throne, which he then ends up yielding to his wife; a peasant woman form a long line of warriors who is just really good at handling people and being a leader. (her husband the king is not good at his job because he spent most of his life as a possessed hermit, but he still sits on the throne and uses the title cuz it’s his inheritance)
well his face could’ve turned out better…
Mikkel and Suri are cousins, but they were raised together in the same household. Suri is a little older. Her mother is a native of the area, but her father comes from much farther north. He too was a vampire with purple eyes and red hair. Mikkel is just an elf, but he has synesthesia. His eyes are bright green due to an uncommon genetic mutation.
mikkel likes to walk in the jungle and sometimes he brings home little friends. (the nagas he befriended taught him how to charm snakes)
so once Mikkel briefly dated one of his naga friends. An agender bisexual naga named Fajar, to be specific. it was a very short relationship, though it was full of passion and happiness. in the end though, they both decided it just wasn’t quite what they wanted, so they went back to just being good friends.
Who’s Alex?
Billboard demonstrating gender stereotypes as most people automatically assume that Alex is the boy.
well it doesn't help that the brother is right in the center of the billboard, in a very wide open pose that makes him very visible while alex herself is off to the side over there. and the name Alex is literally right above the brother's hand and the part that says alex is the girl is just so small and in a corner that it would be impossible to see just from a moving car.
so yeah, it's not just the gender stereotypes. it's mainly the way the billboard is organized, if you ask me. it's clearly been designed to make us focus on the boy, so yeah of course everyone assumes that he is alex. real Alex is in such a weird little pose that you can't even see her face and hair very well. those two things would be what most people would look at to determine her gender.
