Black lightening isn’t the “social justice” show white people want. That’s why it isn’t as well known or well receptive as other shows with white lgbt+ or white super heroes. That’s why the fandom isn’t big, that’s why these characters don’t have audiences and fics written for them, and gif sets. Or better yet, that’s why you don’t see that support from white fans.
Black lightening deals with topics like drug wars, gun violence, gangbanging, police brutality, black on black crime, communities ravaged by all these things—black communities. That makes white people uncomfortable. It’s not their typical walk in the park social justice—it isn’t white liberal social justice. Not your typical tumblr white feminism that is sadly reflective of todays the feminism
And the fact that to many people, the issues in black lightening are a reality also sits uncomfortable with a lot of white viewers. Because they cannot fathom the fact that people, black ppl, even here on tumblr have to deal with it.
So they stay away from black lightening. Cry about wanting lgbt+ rep, especially wlw rep but sleep on a dark skin black lesbian (and her bi gf who is Asian). They’d rather go to something with white social justice, white liberal feminism, verses a hard dose of social justice that gives an even deeper of racism and injustice in black communities.
That’s why black lightening is well known, and why white viewers turn away from it.

Harley Quinn Animated Series First Look
Clarice in every episode — 2x01.
Sacrifice is just a pretty name for losing.
people hate on twilight but it is THE only movie ive ever watched where the 17 year olds actually act like 17 year olds, complete with awkward silences and overall dumbassery. nobody is smooth or clever at all, everyone is uncomfortable, half of bella’s responses to anything that happens to her are “um” and tbh that’s true to life! that’s cinematic realism baby like it or not

finally catching up on The Gifted and giffing tonight. :-(
How long have you been up? I’m just thinking. It’s okay. Go back to sleep.
i work Tuesday nights so i’m forever gonna be missing these episodes.. my life is so sad.
okay i’ll try my best to explain this in english, but it’s not my first language so be patient
i totally get that people are pissed because the baby name isn’t Aurora, the aurora borealis have a huge meaning to eclaris, to Lorna AND Marcos
but, lorna is im a diferent place now, marcos isn’t in the picture and there’s no aurora without the sun, also lorna has a new perspective in life, she has new beliefs with the inner circle, so in my point nof view, the way the writers changed the baby name to show us that Polaris is no longer the character we knew
but that’s just my opinion and i also think aurora was a cooler name
this makes hella sense. they’re really gonna break our hearts with them.
so lorna really named that baby ‘dawn’ and not ‘aurora’? she really just-. @marcos, say the word and i’ll jump her.
