âLook, my favorite nail place jacked their prices up a lot and, like, yeah I can afford it, but itâs the principle of it all. And they wonât give me any type of discount, even though Iâve been going there every month for the past three years. Youâd think thereâd be some kind of loyalty discount or something... whatever, my point is, the only way I can get a discount at all is if I did the coupleâs deal, and with the fit I put up about getting a discount, I canât just give up now. Do you wanna come get a manicure with me? Iâll pay, donât worry, and if youâre not too obnoxious during I can get you lunch afterwards too. What do you say?â @itneverrainsstartersâ
dominiccorderioâ:
Fridays were Dominicâs busiest days.Â
Between classes at UCLA in the morning and then bartending a closing shift at night, there were only a few sweet hours in the day that allowed him actually enjoy the sights and sound of Los Angeles. Or breathe. The one thing that he needed to get through the day, was a nice, almost excessively large cup of coffee.
Dominic reached for the cup of coffee as soon as the barista set it down and made a beeline towards the door. He had a few hours to kill before the start of his shift and wanted to make the most out of them. However, as soon as he brought the cup to his lips, he was faced with the harsh reality that it wasnât his usual Americano, but rather one of the ungodly Peppermint Mocha monstrosities that seemed to take over as soon as October came to an end. Lifting the cup, he read the name on the side. âUh, you donât happen to drink these things, do you?â He asked the person next to him, hoping heâd found the culprit. âIâll buy you a new one. Or maybe something with actual coffee in it. I mean, itâs still November. Isnât it a bit early to be cranking out Christmas ⊠everything?â

Clarke recognized Dominic in the coffee shop as soon as she laid eyes on him, and she kind of considered saying something. Theyâd gotten along just fine when sheâd been with Malcolm, even if she and Suttonâs jabbering and mutual bitching got on their nerves. They hadnât spoken since she and Malcolm, well... exploded, but she could only assume he hated her now. Drama was fun, and watching people get all huffy and grouchy at her was even more fun. Besides, she wouldnât admit it, but she was starting to miss Malcolm, and throwing a little extra fire around that dying flame might make it sting a little bit less. Still, she had plans today, and she strongly remembered how he used to complain about how busy Fridays were for him with his workload and school workload, so she planned on letting him go free. Until he took her drink.
When he realized he grabbed the wrong drink and ultimately addressed the wrong person about it, Clarke cleared her throat and stepped away from the counter she was leaning against. âActually, I drink those things. And yes, I would like if you bought me a new one. Thanks. âTil then, Iâll be holding yours - â She lifted another cardboard cup, this one with his name scribbled into the side. â - hostage. So hop to it.â She smiled sweetly, clutching his warm cup between her hands. âLong time no see, Dom. Whatâs new?â
Going out for coffee with Malcolm was going to be... tough. Truth be told, Clarke missed him. A lot. As cheesy as it was, heâd been her best friend when they were dating. One of the few people that actually got through her bitchy exterior and into her slightly less bitchy interior. She had absolutely, definitely fallen out of love with him over time, but she couldnât lie and say she didnât still want him in her life. It wasnât easy to go from your life revolving around one person to not talking for four months. So when he finally reached out to her again with the offer to catch up, it was a hard decision, but Clarke eventually turned on her read receipts again and said sure. If she was able to squash her pride for the better part of three years, sheâd be able to for one afternoon and admit that she felt bad for hurting him the way she did, right?
When she got to the coffee shop, fashionably late as always, and saw him waiting there for her, it sent a little pain through Clarkeâs heart. Man, she really had missed him. She tucked her short, brown hair behind both of her ears as she walked over to the table where he was waiting. âHey, Mac,â she greeted, with a forced casual tone of voice, taking the seat across from him. Should she have hugged him? No, that was probably too much. Right? She knew she had to be vulnerable here, but not that vulnerable. So she clasped her hands together on the table between them, glancing around the shop so she didnât have to look at him. âTell me you already ordered for me. Unless youâve already forgotten how I take my coffee, in which case... maybe I should just head home.â But she paired it with a tight, joking smile. âHowâve you been? Did you have a fun Halloween?â @malcolmramseyâ
