I still feel that some so-called progressive groups have gone too far with their personalized intellectualization of beat music. I don’t want our music controlled by that kind of ego trip–our music is still essentially emotional like the old rock stars of the past. It’s difficult to listen to those early Presley records and not feel something. We are not going out to make any kind of moral or political statement. Our music is simply us.
