some of my top pet peeves when it comes to iliad/trojan war adaptions or retellings (in no particular order):

no diomedes

menelaus treats helen badly and/or doesn’t love her

patroclus is just a washed-down copy of achilles or his only character trait is that he is achilles’ companion/boyfriend

hector is far less brutal than any of the greeks and portrayed as a kind/soft person

almost all of the trojans are white

people from sparta are portrayed as uncivilised, brutal and nothing else

achilles and briseis have some kind of romantic relationship
