There weren't many high quality fashion shops that Bella would venture into in the Alleys, so her options were always limited when she needed new robes. But she had always liked the quality and service she received from Gladrags so it had become her preference for any future purchases. Having made a quick stop by the shop after running to Gringotts for a despoit, she had just finished placing a future order for herself and something for her sisters when she was bumped into. Most of the clientele had seemed to be good enough but even as annoyed as she was to be interrupted, it was stictly bad manners to be rude to the owner's wife. "Claudette, go right ahead," She spoke, her hand gesturing ahead of her as though the path was now open for the blonde.

"The weather out there is awful," she continued on from her apology as she stepped properly into the shop. She pulled off her coat and hung it the rack by the door, not wanting to make the place any wetter. "I didn't get anything of yours wet did I?" she asked, manners having been drilled into her just as much.

There was a time when Cordelia never would have shopped at Gladrags Wizardwear. According to Helena Davis Gladrags was garish, far too concerned with the latest trends to produce anything with real worth, and for much of her life Cordelia believed anything her mother said. Part of the process of distancing herself from her parents and stepping away from the society she’d grown up in was examining all of the ideas she’d always taken for granted and whether or not she actually agreed with them. It turned out, Cordelia did not share her mother’s opinion on Gladrags. She liked the avant-garde clothing the shop specialized in, and while she didn’t quite have the budget to buy all of her clothes there, it was a good place to find a statement piece. 

Cordelia was trying to find a sales associate to see if she could convince them to give her a discount on an unmarked skirt she’d found on the sale rack when she drifted too close to the door. When someone ran into her from the opposite direction from where she was looking, Cordelia jumped so badly that she dropped the clothing she was holding. A relatively new and decidedly unwelcome development, Cordelia had never been easily startled when she was growing up, nor even when she made her debut, but in recent years that had changed. 

Cordelia immediately knelt to gather the material and took the moment to regain her composure. “You’ve no reason to apologize, I imagine we are equally at fault.” When she stood back up, her smile was polite and her face unbothered, despite the fact that her heart rate had not yet returned to normal. “Spring rains can be dreadful, in Britain, and I expect it’s not something you’re accustomed to.” The woman’s French accent was unmistakable, although her English was flawless.

Claudette knelt down to pick up the dropped garment but was too late, Cordelia having reached it first. "Did it get dirty?" she asked, a slight frown between her brows as she scanned it. The floor was slick with the rain so she wouldn't be surprised if it had landed in some messy patch from people not wiping their shoes on the mat.

She gave a soft laugh, nodding her head. "No, I'm not used to them just yet," she admitted. "Nor am I very fond of them." In fact, the rain was one of her least favourite parts of living in England, especially because it seemed to come in every single season, regardless of temperature.

"I was thinking," he begins, hoping that the slight pause doesn't betray the fact he hadn't expected a follow up question, "that you'd wear it to dinner with me." It isn't a command, Claudette free to reject the offer if she wished. Alexander tried - was trying - to be a good husband to her, in spite of their circumstances, though it was still a learning curve for him and the situation by no means perfect.

He'd be damned if he didn't try though.

He hadn't been the most present himself either, often consumed with the aftermath of his family affairs or discussing the latest updates from Gawain. Alexander tried, again, to make up for it when he could. Her comment pulls him from his reverie, catching the corners of his mouth in a smile that returns the one playing on her own lips. "You do realise you'd bankrupt me, if that were to happen?" He's joking, mostly, his expression morphing into a pensive frown before adding, "But I could consider it."

Draping the dress across the table, Claudette turned her back to him for a minute, mulling over his offer in her head. "Do you have the time to go to dinner with me?" she asked, feeling the dress once more, her back still to him. If there was one thing she had a bit of bitterness towards it was his prolonged absences. While it had been something she was glad for during the engagement her feelings had changed, especially after he wasn't there when she was arrested. His early departure from the Ministry's Spring event only left her more wary of trusting his presence at things. While she knew he sometimes had no choice, she couldn't help feeling a little abandoned by it, just as she had started to let him in.

She turned back around, resting back on the table with an easy smile. At least the lack of time spent together meant she could fake any sort of feeling easy enough. "I don't go to France that often," she disagreed. At least she wouldn't anymore, knowing how little good her last trip back did her. "I'm not all about fancy dresses, flowers will do," she joked lightly. "It is lovely though," she said sincerely, "Thank you."

"Claudette-" Marlene mused as she stepped back to see who she'd collided with. If anyone were to understand the fall out of the solstice it was her. But of course, Marlene couldn't have even begun to imagine the situation that Claudette had been put into. It was one thing being framed for using an imperious curse, it was a whole different situation being framed for the murder of Amelia Bones. Marlene knew the glances that she got weren't at all pleasant on the best of times, the cursed woman with the kiss of death to Booker Bagnold and cursed Rosaline Davis? She was used to being spoken of. However Marlene couldn't even begin to imagine on the scale that Claudette had been over the past few years.

She'd wanted to stay in touch more, to offer help a friendly hand when she imagined all she'd been receiving were punches. Especially as her cousin's best friend, it felt like she had an obligation all most to check in on her for Gabriel. Still, there was no better time to make up for missed moments and regrets than the present. "How have you been? I'm sorry- I've been meaning to send you an Owl life has just been- well, life. But I hear a congradulations is in order since I last saw you? So how is married life?"

Glancing up to see who she had knocked into Claudette gave a small, but one that was more polite than she would have once used with Marlene. A little less relaxed. Her smiles were a little less relaxed with everyone these days, her circle of trust getting smaller and smaller, and living further and further away. And while she had never been best friends with Marlene, their joint connection to Gabriel had always made them easy friends. However, she wasn't even sure the last time she had seen Marlene. "Marlene, it's been awhile, lovely to see you," she greeted warmly, well used to putting on a front.

"I've been well, thank you," she nodded, pulling her handbag onto her elbow. "That's alright, I understand you're busy," she said, brushing away Marlene's apology. These days everyone was busy with the hectic times the lived in and the desire to stick with your loved ones as much as possible. "Oh, thank you," Claude smiled, glancing down at her left hand. "It's good, Alexander spoils me more than he should," she joked. "How are you?"

He shakes his head in response to her. "Ma cherie, I know that very little will meet your standards." It was the truth, peppered with his usual good humour, lowering his voice as they continued through the shop. "Even me, but I'm still trying to." Alexander winks, their courtship hadn't exactly started out the way he had anticipated, the last number of years had brought them closer in several respects. He wanted to be a good husband, he tried to be.

Alexander had a make-shift office at the back of the shop, the desk placed in such a way that it was function but not impeding on the shop floor. He rounds the desk, lifting the dress in question off the back of the chair where he had left it resting, turning back to Claudette and holding it out toward her. "We'll call it a welcome home gift." An excuse considering that technically they both had more than one home, but one he was happy to use.

Claudette had a witty reply ready, dancing on the tip of her tongue, when Alexander continued with a softer voice and she dropped it. Even knowing he was quiet enough that his voice wouldn't carry, she gave him a look as he winked at her. Not truly annoyed but at least acting exasperated. "At least with that attitude you have half a chance," she replied, her voice light and teasing. Truthfully, any distance between them had very little to do with whether he met her standards or not, and more to do with the fact that she hadn't been the one to pick him in the first place. She really thought he was probably better than she deserved.

She followed him through the shop, stopping once they reached the desk and leaning against it lightly as she watched him pick up the dress. She raised a delicate eyebrow, a small smile changing her features. "And where exactly do you propose I wear such a dress?" she asked, leaning back on one hand. She took it from him as he held it out and ran her hand along the fabric. "Do I get a welcome home present every time I visit France?" she asked, a cheeky smile on her lips.

Alexander had been standing quite some way inside the shop, head canting slightly to one side as he looked at Josephine's latest in store display. It was an upgrade, as she called it; the wall that had been a deep navy blue now a bright verdant green with several art pieces hanging from it. "I like it," he tells her after a beat, when he hears conversation floating toward them from the front of the store, "Excuse me."

"Claudette," he's surprised to see his wife when he walked to the front of the store, though the edges of the mouth still lift as his gaze settles on her. He reaches out, a hand resting briefly on her waist as he turns his attention to the other, "Mr. Aldritch, pleasure as always." He shifts his focus back to his wife, "I have a new order in, there's a dress I think you'll like." Alexander moves backward slightly, merriment glinting in his gaze, "If you'd like to see it."

At the sound of her name from a voice she recognised, Claudette looks up with a smile. "Alexander," she replied, some amusement littered in her voice at his surprise. She stepped closer just as he moved his hand to her waist, smiling politely at the man in front of them.

"If you can think it can meet my standards, by all means," she half joked. "Especially since I'm just back from France."

After the way spring solstice unfolded, Claudette had taken herself off to France for a couple of weeks to destress. Something which seemed like a good idea at the start; enjoying glasses of wine in the evening sun, chatting with her friends from home and eating food that she couldn’t get in England. The reality was quiet different. As excited as she had been to see her siblings - or some of them anyway she seemed to have forgotten she would have to see her parents too. While her mother had warmed after Claudette gave in and married Alexander, Claude still couldn’t forgive her for it. She disliked her more than ever before, especially because all she ever did was remind her of how small and powerless she could be. Because of the necessary time spent with her mother, Claudette’s mood wasn’t improved all that much when she returned.

Still, when almost ran into someone as she was walking into the shop she smiled politely and apologetically. “Oh I’m sorry, I just needed to hurry out of that rain.”

When: The morning after the summer solstice Enchanted quill at the ready, perked up and attentive, Rita Skeeter sat at her table listening to the news that flew around her. She' d meticulously chosen a seat that faced away from a group of gossipy nurses who were chatting on and on about yesterday night's attack. Maybe Rita could get a good sense of what happened just by sitting here. As she sipped on her drink, Rita saw a familiar figure approach. Perking up at the opportunity, she quickly spoke up before the person could walk away. "That was quite the event last night, don't you agree?"

Since the events of the previous night, Claudette had been wishing for more to do. If she had still been working for the Ministry she knew she would have found out everything she could and probably would have been tasked to solve it. Now though, it was out of her jurisdiction and she hated it. She hated not even knowing who was hurt so she had decided this morning to go to St. Mungos and see what she could find out and who she could help.

Now, a few hours later, she made her way down to the coffee shop to get a drink, only to be stopped. She raised a delicate eyebrow and nodded. "I suppose you could put it like that."

Rosaline immediately recognized Claudette from the papers, but she didn't let on. She wasn't quite sure what Harrison would think of her having drinks with her, but she found herself not entirely caring at the moment. He wasn't there after all, and she was a little bit annoyed that he had been pulled away, so she couldn't help but do something that could be a bit reckless. Claudette had been found innocent after all, so there was no harm as far as she was concerned.

"Fantastic," Rosaline replied with a smile. "What's your drink of choice?" She asked her, curious. "Rosaline Davis, by the way," she introduced, although it wasn't entirely needed. She knew who she was talking to.

"Oh a glass of red wine sounds good," she replied with a smile. Claudette didn't really have one drink she stuck to, and was honestly more of a spirits girl than anything. Still, wine seemed a lot more sociable at an event like this. "Claudette Tremblay," she supplied, deftly putting out her hand for the other woman to shake. Despite the way her new name tasted on her tongue she said it with pride, sounding every bit comfortable to be a Tremblay now. Which honestly she should be, having been married for a while now.

Outraged, having sacrificed her freedom for so many years, her heart was non-negotiable. Desiring to love freely, she refused. Unbeknownst to anyone, she was planning to propose to Evageline. Detained and awaiting trial for a crime she didn’t commit, with the invasion of her mind it was proved Claudette’s innocence and that the guilty was under the influence of Polyjuice potion. Despite The Ministry’s statement, the hate spiraled towards her was maddening. Returning from Italy, Alexander became her saving grace. Averting the tabloids eager for a statement from the ‘killer’, his valiant protection eased her. For the first time she saw him as a person and not a pawn in her parents’ schemes. Hidden in the Tremblay house, the witch was confined for her own safety. Leaving only under the disguise of beauty potions at the cusp of night. With the world unstable, her constant became Xander. His support, especially after being fired for ‘appearance sake’, kept her steady. While proud, it was against her better judgment that she let herself fall. And just like he had her, when MASON TREMBLAY [rival/brother in law] was found guilty for Amelia’s murder it was Claude that held him strong. Xander believed in their union, promising that in time their love would grow. Hopeful, they married privately as a commitment to each other outside of their families. Despite reservations, she didn’t feel obligated to his hand like she’d once did. She’d chosen him. Not out of sacrifice to her heart, but because of it. 

Going out on her own to investigate cases piling desks high, while ANNABETH PEBWORTH [former colleaguer/friend] warned her against it with the danger rising, it isn’t in her nature to stay on the side lines. That was until PRUDENCE OWENS [friend/colleague] approached with a card and an offer of a new place of residence. A Brief Case was filled with ex-aurors and those thrown out by the system were a breath of fresh air. Their bite for the truth filled Claudette with pride as they helped those the ministry ignored. While her work has her reluctantly investigating PERSEPHONE WILKES’ [acquaintance] distrusting claims against GENEVIEVE AVERY-WILKES [person of interest] she can’t help but be more captivated by her own personal investigations. Gathering memories of civilians from the night of the solstice, Claudette is trying to identify suspected Death Eaters; and who framed her. Those eager to forget give theirs gladly, but with the rising turbulence honesty is something lacking. Attempting to gain the trust of socialites LUCRETIA FAWLEY [person of interest] and VERUCCA BUCKTHORN-SNYDE [person of interest], Claude hopes their memories could be the missing piece she needs. However with their alliances unknown, can she afford to put herself on the line if it leads to more false trails?

Nursing a triple-scoop waffle cone advertised as ever-shifting, Doe tasted the faintest flicker of citrus – the sharp ZING taking her aback. What feeling of hers had tempted the flavor? The treat advertised itself as matching the wizard’s mood, changing just as swiftly. The comfort of magical mundanity fades with the sun, a quickly-timed charm preventing the treat from melting through her fingers. Incredulity lends to a new flavor, something violently sweet making her face scrunch. Tickled by the novelty of it, she snorted a soft laugh - looking to the crowds milling about. These were the moments she’d held to when life lost it’s reason. The simplicity of joy, itself. On a whim, she turned to the first familiar wizard in her eye-line, her smile seemed effortless. “What do you think happiness tastes like?”

Claudette was glancing around the shops as the day wore on, thinking that buying something might at least make her feel happier to be here. Everywhere was packed and getting in looked to be more hassle than it was worth so she stuck to window shopping. Unfortunately, nothing was really taking her fancy. Deciding to move on, she had just started to walk when someone spoke to her. "Hm?" she hummed, confused by the question. "I suppose it would be different for everyone."

Location: The Hopping Pot Event: Spring Solstice Festival Rosaline & Open

Harrison had been dragged off by some business associate not long after their arrival, leaving her to wander the market on her own. He had promised that he would meet her at The Hopping Pot in twenty minutes, but she was certain he would be kept longer. It was all rather annoying, being left by herself when they were supposed to be on a date. In the beginning, when they had first started dating, she had told herself that by now she would get used to it, the way that he was always so busy and called off to meetings and such, but it still managed to irritate her every time it happened.

Walking towards the bar, she scanned the room. Rosaline held back a sigh, of course, he wasn't there yet. There was nothing she hated more than being left alone to deal with the public. At least there was someone else alone, too.

"Care to get a drink?" Rosaline asked the similarly alone figure at the bar.

On a whole, Claudette had never been a fan of Ministry sanctioned events. But now? She was even less keen than ever before. Normally even though they were a bore, she went, but this one she had really tried to avoid. But somehow Alexander convinced her it would be good to show her face and here she was with a knot in her stomach. It wouldn't have even been that bad if her husband had actually been with her but of course, last minute plans had prevented that.

Deciding to get a drink to attempt to steady her stomach she waltzed up to the bar, always able to feign comfort even if she didn't feel it. She smiled slightly as the woman next to spoke. "Absolutely."
