I think growing up in an abusive home makes you really good at believing totally contradictory things without putting the two sides together. For example: Mother hurts me. Mother loves me. Sometimes it gets put in a sentence like "mother hurts me because she loves me". Yet still both things are never understood as a whole. The fact that a mother who loves you would not hurt you is not something you can afford to believe and thus you end up accepting contradictions without questioning because to question is dangerous.
People need to understand that for those who have gone through trauma experience things differently.
If you went through an abandonment as a child, a breakup others would get over with in months can take years to overcome.
If you went through domestic abuse, even small changes in a loved one's tone can make you anxious.
If you were belittled your whole childhood, being professionally critized at work can feel like the end of the world.
Trauma effects us for a long time after it occurs.
Wild things I have learnt in therapy:
When a child cries, parents are supposed to comfort them, not punish them
Parents are, in fact, supposed to want to spend time with their children
Children too have a right to privacy, meaning parents are not allowed to read their diaries etc and then punish them for the thoughts they found about
Children are allowed to be upset and cry
Children don't have to earn the love and attention from their parents by performing various things
Children are not supposed to be scared of going home and/or their parents
Children are not supposed to be physically abused and even a little bit of hitting is actually physical abuse
Parents are not supposed to expect that children are mentally as mature as other adults
Children are not supposed to be told that they're an accident, a burden, or something the parents regret
Children are not supposed to be scared and ashamed of themselves or feel like failures because of their parents
On Jeremy Clarkson's fake 'apology' + Angela Levin's obsession with Meghan Markle.
I'm so done with the way these people treat this woman. It sickens me. I think they need to be called out.
If you have any video suggestions for me, feel free to send them my way. xxx
“You are making people want to kill me. It’s not just a tabloid, it’s not just some story, you are making me scared… And you’ve created it for what? Because you’re bored or because it sells your papers or it makes you feel better about your own life?”
— Meghan, Duchess of Sussex
I'm so distressed to see the hate campaign across British media against this woman. It's completely disproportionate. Bullying on a massive scale. Just awful.
Excited to see you on Tumblr again! 😊 Will you be making reviews of the new RTD era of Doctor Who? I’ve always loved your criticism videos. Have a lovely day!
Hi!
Yes definitely! It'll be so interesting to see where he goes with the show. I think he's defintely grown as a writer and become more and more political, or at least he's moving with politics, which shouldn't be so remarkable, but it sadly is since a load of writers just go stale with their politics. I thought Years and Years and It's A Sin were stunning.
I'm hoping to see the show from a companion's perspective again. Nobody writes companions like RTD (imo), so I know I'll fall totally in love with Ruby, just like I did with all his others. Being older now is so weird though, because Ruby is so young! I feel like Jackie Tyler! I will be going NUTS if she's in danger! The mum vibe kicks in!!!
Thanks for the question, and I hope you're having a lovely day too!
Both "King" by Florence + the Machine and "Heathens" by Aurora eerily remind me of your own music. I don't know if you're taking suggestions for covers, but those would be mine.
Ah, thank you!!!!
That's the greatest compliment ever!
'King' is DEFINITELY on my list. I have quite a few covers on their way, so they should be going up soon. I'm also open to more suggestions, so feel free to send them my way!
Hey welcome back to tumblr (even thought i left in 2017 too). As one of the most well known (to me) detractors of Henry the 8th, what do you think of SIX the musical?
Thanks for the welcome!
I have MANY thoughts about it. I have a YouTube video planned on this very topic!
I guess a summary is that I love how they've designed the costumes and made the outfits so modern, and I love how they've hit that Little Mix stan culture vibe. I've definitely seen a lot of new people wanting to learn about the women, and that's always good.
I like the music very much, think the cast are impeccable, and I think in the cases of Kathryn Howard and Anne of Cleves, the writers have achieved what many haven't managed, which is to make them human and get us to root for them. It's one of the only things that I've seen address the abuse Kathryn likely suffered, and I like how they've actually *used* the idea of her as some man-eater, and then deconstructed it by making it a bit of a front. I also love that she's the one who manages to answer the general knowledge question! People think of her as unintelligent, when really she was just young!
When it comes to Anne Boleyn, I feel conflicted, because I think the show defeats its own premise. It seems to want to move away from archetypes, but then it tries to create new ones. For example, Anne Boleyn and Catherine of Aragon's beef in the show seems like they're fighting over a man, rather than looking at their HUGE religious differences. I hate some of the lyrics to Anne's song 'politics, not my thing!' - that makes me cringe. Also the idea that her dad told her to get close to Henry. From a modern lens we're looking more like this guy has a full obsession with her, she holds him off because it would ruin her, and then she gets vilified somehow as the 'other woman' and blamed for the man's actions. That's something we see today!
It's annoying because some things are really great, like I love how they kind of modernise that personality trait she seems to have had where she can say things in the heat of the moment and then think, oh God, maybe I shouldn't have said that!
I guess it's a good 'girl power' musical, but ultimately, I feel like in unifying term in a group almost undoes the positives. Because these are a group of women with ideological differences who actually probably deserve more than that.
I'm still thinking about it all as I prepare my video, but it's such a mixed bag. It's genuinely a really fun musical and all the references are brilliant. The way they mix the history with modern culture is genius. Even having some famous ladies in waiting in the band is a genius move.
I'd say it's a triumph for most of the women, but less so for Catherine of Aragon and Anne Boleyn, who really do deserve to be known for more than 'fighting over a man'.
Anne Boleyn was a fierce reformer. I feel it does her a disservice for them to avoid talking about the misogynistic smear campaign and abuse she suffered. There's also no George mention, which feels like a missed opportunity. Like at least have her go on to write lyrics with her bro and their friends (who she was accused with). I imagine her fronting an indie band with George on the guitar and doing extra vocals, the others on drums etc. They should really have gone more punk with Anne I think, made her a bit of an activist, too 'mouthy' and getting over-involved with politics. Maybe given her a Miley Cyrus or even Taylor Swift vibe. (I'm thinking Anti-hero and Look What You Made Me Do!)
Also Catherine doesn't talk enough about both Catholicism and her daughter Mary. That's a shame to me. ALSO why can't she have a Spanish accent. I need for Catherine of Aragon to have the accent, and for Anne of Cleves to have a German accent!
Some of the wives get very sympathetic treatment, like Kathryn Howard and Jane Seymour, and also Katherine Parr, but Aragon and Boleyn just don't really get to tell the full tragedy of their tales.
ALSOOOO the guy Parr sings about goes on to creep around Elizabeth 1, and I feel like that should be addressed!
Thanks for the question!!!
Hi Claudia,
I've been following you since I was around 18 (I'm 24 now), just wanted to let you know that even though we may have never met or had any particular interaction, a girl over in Yorkshire is very happy to see you posting and sharing your experiences/knowledge.
Keep being you, girl! 🌟
Aw, thank you so so much!!!!!
It means a lot that people remember me!
Thanks for the kind message and I hope you're well!

Jeremy Clarkson's DISGUSTING comments about Meghan Markle
// I made this because I'm angry. I'm so sick and tired of men like Clarkson and Piers Morgan thinking that their abuse of Meghan is acceptable. I'm sickened by their sexual obsession with her, the way they wish to control her, and to frighten her. I don't have a whole lot of power, but I do have my voice. Meghan Markle has my complete solidarity.//
I am the nicest, sweetest, most rage-filled person I know
Apparently I post too many selfies, but I'm contrary by nature, so have 💖 MORE 💖
Hi Claudia, I was just wondering is Martha Jones still your number 1? She is definitely my favourite of the new who companions. I also know from a few people who have worked with her that Freema Agyeman is a classic example of one of these nice, sweet, nerdy girls that goes out of her way to make everyone feel welcome on set.
I'm kind of conflicted because I adore Martha, but the one thing that I don't like is her military connections. I love her arc and think she's so underrated. 100% the most capable of the new companions. Plus I extra have her back because people compare her to Rose and that's just not fair because they're so incredibly different. Ten was truly at the height of his foolishness when he couldn't see the absolute diamond travelling with him.
The idea of Clara appeals to me. I like her very much, but I think her actual writing can be flat and it comes down to Jenna's flair to sell the character. But I have to admit, I love her kindness, the fact she's a teacher, her gentleness. As an idea she's amazing, she just doesn't ever feel grounded to me. Her themes don't get that time to be delved into in the way I prefer, you know? But I'm sapphic so it's complicated because the Clara in my head and what I've added and what the fandom has added to her, has just made me fall in love. Also, gotta to love a short and feisty woman with an Autumnal wardrobe. She's doing it for the tiny opinionated brunettes.
Amy is my BPD girl, with abandonment issues, a history of psychiatrists, and poor impulse control! I love Amy Pond but I feel the writing lets her down. As an idea, like Clara, she's brilliant. If Amy was written well, she'd be my favourite. There's just something special about her. You don't often get BPD whirlwinds like her on screen, and I miss her all the time.
I have heard wonderful things about Freema! She comes across so well. I am well out of the loop right now, but I'd love to see her back for the 60th. I mean, if Ten/Fourteen is swaggering about then you need her to put him back in line, because she absolutely sees through the drama! In terms of practicality, she's unmatched. If I had to trust my life to a single new companion, it would be Martha.
hi claudia! i was taking a look at my notes and noticed that you've unfollowed me - ofc you don't have any obligation to follow me, but i was just wondering if there was something that i did wrong or a bad take on my blog that caused it? just so i know for the future! no pressure to answer if this question is weird.
Looks like I'm still following you from my end. Let me know if not and I'll refollow! xxx
