That is awful logic. Due to the fact there are certain form of studying that involves sound. Musicians need to practice their instruments, dancers need music to dance. Clearly your parents had motives behind that.

I think you’re mistaken, arts and amusements don’t really come under the studying criteria. I’d say it’s more of practise than anything else.
