Honestly, Melissa could have expected as much... Perhaps the one difference from this job in hell as opposed to the similar role she held in life was that people, here, didn't have much reason to dishonest about what they did. Would never have to worry about a knife in the back when people were all too happy to stab you from the front.
"Right..." Melissa nearly sighed; almost letting her mask slip; "That's certainly the reason why you're in charge."
The nickname seemed to go unnoticed by Melissa; too lost in the mood of her own disappointment after having her opinion so unceremoniously stolen from her. Perhaps, one day, she would just stop giving her opinions altogether... But, then, she may end up lost among the faces of the other workers. At the very least, her own creativity was keeping her useful and on top of the muck heap.
For now, she'd make herself a bit less useful and resign herself to nearly collapsing in a chair. Sitting, now, it really seemed like she couldn't hide the exhaustion in her body anymore. Her normally rigid posture slumped into the chair as she started to poke at her, now cooled, ramen with a pair of chopsticks. She was almost tired enough that even the thought of eating exhausted her...
Still... She'd pick up a bunch of noodles and eat away.
After some few moments of silence, Melissa would pause from her eating to check her phone. She had kept it on silent, for a while; trying to stay focused on her work. When she noticed she had a voicemail, she briefly put aside her ramen to hold her phone up to her ear to listen to it. If Velvette were interested, she might be able to just faintly pick it up...
Hello, Melissa. I'm calling you back regarding your insurance claim for your apartment after the recent disaster. Unfortunately, while our policy does cover damages from overlord disputes and angel exterminations... As these were damages caused by an angel outside of a scheduled extermination, we have made the decision to deny your claim--
"Tch..." Melissa clicked her tongue as she hung up the phone and set it back in her lap. Sure, she had pretty much expected this result. After all, after all that's happened, she was lucky she even got a call back at all and the company didn't just up and vanish... or conveniently have been destroyed in the battle.
Still... it wasn't exactly improving her situation, any.
