âCoincidences are just that. Coincidences. Everything has a logical explanation. And Iâm not saying they donât exist, but if itâs not hurting you, then you have no reason to be scared. So just forget about it.â The brunette took a drink from the juice in her hand, almost spitting it out with the girlâs next words. âSubjective? Honey, thatâs what talentless people tell themselves so that they feel better that no one wants to buy their work.â
Cleo didnât necessarily believe that. Not everything had a logical explanation, but she figured this wanât the time to argue semantics. Instead, she gave a small smile and a very unsure âI guess,â as she pulled awkwardly at the sleeves of her sweater. âThere have been times where peopleâs works werenât readily accepted until decades later. I donât think people are talentless just maybe a head of their time,â she reasoned with a shrug.Â
âis it weird i am digging this whole haunted vibe stuff? i also like watching people talk about haunted experiences on tik tok. weird i know, but thatâs how i pass the time when the gym is closed,â he smiled. âanyways i am mason and i am always down to watch a scary movie.â
@seasstarts Â
âI would say an 8 out of 10 on the weird-o-meterâ a slight chuckle slipped passed her lips at the incredulity of the statement. It was definitely a first she was hearing that and it would take several parallel universes for her to get on the same wavelength. âIf this were to turn into a crime scene though youâd be too obvious of a suspect so maybe not that weird?â She second guessed before taking the opportunity to reciprocate the introduction, âCleo, nice to meet you. And... are we talking slasher movies or psychological horrors?â
âFirst of all, Iâm willing to take my chances staying on the ship if I was allowed to.â Sierra pointed out. âSecond, since weâre now in the set of a horror movie, Iâm just going to feed in to the stereotype of the white blonde girl who gets black out drunk and doesnât have to feel anything when sheâs hacked in her sleep.â She turned herself in the direction of the bar before looking back at the person she was talking to. âFancy joining me?âÂ
@seasstartsâ
âIs there a brunette girl that blacks out and doesnât feel anything when sheâs hacked in her sleep or is that too redundant?â Cleo asked, trying desperately to remember the last time she watched a horror. Admittedly, she was too jumpy to focus on her homework. Every time the sky lit ablaze with electric webs or the thunder rumbled loud enough to shake the shack of a hotel theyâd found themselves in, she had to stop to self regulate. Besides, it couldnât hurt to take the edge off. âYou donât have to ask me twice,â she replied, hurrying to walk alongside the blonde. Her fear of being alone, in what could be righteously named the haunted mansion, creeping in.
âIf you try to blame this hotelâs crappy wifi on a ghost, I am going to have to throw my drink over you. I donât make the rules here.â Evie said, shutting her laptop since there was clearly no way she was going to get any of her class work done. // @seasstartsââ
âAs much as I want to.. I think the most rational explanation would be the hurricane. Iâm surprised we even have electricity- though I probably donât want to jinx it by mentioning it,â Cleo knocked on the wooden desk sheâd had her laptop propped on before offering the other a smile. Sheâd seen her around here and there and for a reason unbeknownst consciously to Cleo, had intrigued her. âHow long do you think itâs going to last?â She queried, shutting her own laptop as she arrived to the same conclusion; no actual work was going to be getting done tonight.
âIf I hear one more thing about ghosts, someone is getting pushed into the pool.â The brunette rolled her eyes, stretched out on the hotel lounge chair in the pool room. âIf you think ghosts are scary, you obviously havenât seen the outfits of the girls that try to sneak into Paris fashion week.â She scoffed to herself, looking up from the magazine in her hands.
@seasstartsâ
âSorry okay, but there is such a thing as one too many coincidences,â Cleo was usually the rational one of any group but there was no denying that the series of events had been overly suspicious. The anxiety that would usually propel her into being at the top of her class was now making her far too gullible- making her gravitate to a group she hadnât truly acquainted herself with prior. âBesides, isnât fashion subjective?â She asked, leaning in slightly to sneak a peak of what the brunette had been reading.

Cleo was adopted, never knew her parents but sheâs the proud daughter of her two dads.
She never says it but she yearns to know more about her birth parents. The adoption was closed.
Sheâs a sucker from chick flicks (her favs are legally blonde- obvs- and the devil wears prada)
Thereâs never been a semester when she hasnât been on the Deanâs List.
If she didnât feel the constant need to succeed sheâd be studying fashion instead of law. However, she has more faith in her intellectual abilities than her creative abilities. (Itâs her complex for being given up at birth)
Although she chose not to pursue fashion as a career, she uses her personal style to express herself; often opting for bold, eye catching colours. Her favourite accessory is oversized coats.Â
