I was a huge fan of Doki Doki Literature Club! when it first came out in 2017. When I found out there was a game that actually let you play as the Literature Club in an open-world game environment rather than just a visual novel, I had to try it.

Yandere Simulator had so many features that I always wanted to put into a game if I could make one myself, so it honestly felt like this was the game I should be working on. So, I offered to help YandereDev in any way I could. I felt like this was the perfect way to start my “career.” Back to the drawing board…

I always was. I don’t know if I still am or will be, since I imagine Dev will replace my music, just like he’s done in the past with other people who left. More than two years of my life for nothing, I guess. That’s what I get for working for free out of the kindness of my heart and standing up for what I feel is right. Life sucks, man.

Do you participate in NaNoWriMo? I have always found writing to be rather therapeutic. You can write about your frustrations to get them off your chest, or you can go in the polar opposite direction and write about something completely different to get your mind off it.

I’ve always considered it, but I lack the inspiration to write an entire novel.

I got my name from my hometown (Cleveland, Ohio) and the main character of my favorite game (Rock Volnutt from Mega Man Legends). Oh, and the song “Cleveland Rocks.”

Raise money? Like… ask people for money? No way.

Although, I have been considering doing a charity stream. I haven’t done one of those in years… mainly because my streams get very few viewers and I’ve never actually raised any money.

Another thing I’m wondering: each rival is supposed to be more difficult than the last, right? So why is Hanako number 9, with only Megami as number 10 being harder? I can’t imagine it being very difficult to eliminate a “kid sister.”

Well, for starters she’s not a kid. She’s pretty much an Irish Twin (people born 9 months apart)  and she’s his sister, she’s clingy from what we see of her, and this means she’s ALWAYS going to be with him, for the majority of the time.

To eliminate her lethally may be one of the hardest ones to do in the game and her elimination will severely impact Taro because that’s his SISTER, his family that he obviously cares for very very much if he’s willing to not date anyone else for her sake.

Getting rid of her lethally will probably be the final breaking point for him if you also eliminate all the other rivals lethally.

Yeah, she’s usually seen literally clinging to him. And when he lets Osana borrow his book, he tells her to take good care of it because it was a gift from his sister. He seems to care about her a lot.

Well, Akane is the bird character, but her name means “red.” Maybe you can go with Saki because of her hair color.

Also, that looks like a parakeet/budgie, which makes me wonder if the poor little guy has an owner somewhere nearby…

According to YandereDev, it’s a total fabrication.

Even if it’s true, though, I don’t see the big deal. A person should be allowed to own weird things. And the less I have to think about it, the better.

You must be new. DrApeis cancelled his game after he was exposed as a liar and a thief. He didn’t “remake Yandere Simulator”; he ripped a bunch of assets from Yandere Simulator and used them to put together a bare-bones prototype. You know, the kind that took YandereDev three days at most (judging by the date the video was uploaded), except he had to use ugly stock assets instead of ripping better ones from another game. It was also revealed that DrApeis didn’t code his game himself; it was done by the Watashi no Mono developer.

I don’t understand how people are so gullible that they actually believed somebody remade six years of work in just two weeks, but it really makes me wonder why YandereDev even bothers making a game for people who don’t seem to care or even notice that he’s updated the game over 400 times. And no, it’s not Easter eggs.

EpicMeal-Dev released this document (archived version here), in which he revealed that he had been working on Love Letter: My True Feelings (at the time, it was called “Lovesick: Yandere Simulator Revamped”) under the name Nocturnal. In the document, he says this (keep in mind, Narwhals is the former username of DrApeis):

i only wanted to help out for a bit since i didn’t really have any plans but eventually i ended up programming most of the core mechanics of the game since i got too into it

once the project was gaining popularity i was getting worried because the yandere simulator riot was back again because someone allegedly remade yandere simulator in two weeks

The “LoveSick” trailer consisted of only two things: basic gameplay mechanics that were coded by EpicMeal-Dev and assets that were made by the Yandere Simulator team, plus a couple from the Unity Asset Store. The entire thing, even the title, was taken from other people. He even acknowledged that the trailer was “rightfully taken down.” So, claiming that DrApeis “remade Yandere Simulator in two weeks” is a flat-out lie that people, unfortunately, still believe.

My good friend for many years finally fixed his PC and played Yandere Simulator for the first time since he played it exactly once back in 2015. I rarely talked to him about the game and never talked to him about the drama, so he had a fairly fresh and unbiased perspective going into it. Watching his reactions gave me so much hope. He loved it.

His feedback was basically the polar opposite of what I’m used to hearing:

He was impressed that his old computer that had been broken for a long time could run the game at a consistent 60 FPS.

He praised the amount of work that went into everything, and he especially loved the minigames.

He fell in love at first sight with Mulberry’s designs and artwork. He spent a long time just admiring all the magical girl figures in the Gaming Club.

His favorite character so far might be “Selene2005.”

He was disappointed by the lack of a “nude cheat” and the inability to kill the kitten and frame someone else for it. No, I’m serious.

He turned an awful day into a great one. What a breath of fresh air.

I doubt the game will explore the backstories of secondary characters that deeply. I was the one who decided the likes and dislikes for all the characters, so I can certainly tell you why I made it that way. My reasoning shouldn’t be accepted as official canon, but it might be the closest we’ll ever get.

I imagined all of the delinquents having families who don’t approve of them dying their hair blonde, bringing weapons to school, and getting covered in scars. I imagined that three of them (Osoro, Hokuto, and Hayanari) hate their families because of their disapproval and two of them (Umeji and Dairoku) don’t really care.

However, Gaku loves his family. Why? Because he thinks his brother (the Yakuza dude) is the coolest.

Remember, this is not official canon. More like… semi-official headcanon?
