Mira Forrester & Tom (requested by 6manipulative-bouqet9)
“Please don’t despair. I know people who… People who’d be willing to help you.”
What if I’m far from home? Oh brother, I will hear you call! What if I lose it all? Oh sister, I will help you hang on! Oh, if the sky comes falling down, for you There’s nothing in this world I wouldn’t do
His features lit with a beam that became apparent on his lips. Over his time in exile, he had accepted the reality that he would not see his family again - perhaps Ryon, he had only been an infant when his brother left which made Asher believe that one day he would be curious of the brother across the sea. Having set his eyes upon Mira, home was truly there since he first arrived back in Westeros. The returned exile remained where he stood when seeing his sister run towards him. It was strange to him to feel her embrace, affection had not been a priority across the sea but he did not object. He relaxed as he hugged her back, his tough exterior crumbled, leaving him feeling like a seventeen year old that was saying his goodbyes again. “The thought had crossed my mind but after Father…” He paused remembering the way thing had been left with his father causing his smile to drop, “And Rodrik.. I couldn’t stay in Essos - I couldn’t. Not whilst those Whitehill bastards still live and breathe.” There was little emotion in the way he spoke apart from a bitter resentment of the house that had inflicted pain to his family.
It was a surreal experience to hear Ashers voice and feel his arms wrapped around her, after their father had banished him she had never even entertained the idea that he would come back. She felt the sadness that she had been suppressing wash over her as he brought up their father and brother “It is good to have you back, we all missed you so much....even father.” Mira squeezed him just a bit harder when she said that before breaking away. “In her last letter mother told me that her and Ethan were thinking of sending Malcolm for you but I didn’t quite believe it, it has been so long and so much has changed. I’ve tried to help as much as I am able but it is difficult, the only real power I have is through Margaery and I can only ask her so many favours.”
“I can imagine so.” Trystane laughed as he relieved coming to Westeros for the first time. In Kings Landing, people were more shrewd and more conservative while the Dornish were free… “A girl I knew once had a similar difficulty to yours. She moved to a different kingdom and if it wasn’t for a king who showed her kindness then she would have been miserable. Kindness often goes so far.”
“It is a true shame that often times it is overlooked and mistaken for weakness” Mira commented, very few people in Kings Landing were genuinely kind with no motivation. Margaery, Tom, Sera. Those were the three people that she knew that she could trust in this place without a doubt. “I imagine it must have all been rather strange for you as well when you first came here, I can’t boast that I know much about Dorne but I do know it’s much more free than Kings Landing.”
Ironrath would always be home to a Forrester. The recent events gave an overwhelming reminder of that to the second-born son. Upon his return to Westeros, at the request of his mother, Asher had yet to make it home. Rejoicing in the rich woodlands and crisp air — it had been long since he last felt such climates; across the Narrow sea it would always be temperate and though he was not yet back in the wolfswood, his surrounding had been familiar. He stopped at the sight of another, a woman he last saw as a girl. “You never did have the patience for games, sister.”
Mira turned as the voice of another caught her attention. His words did not reach her at first, she was too caught up in trying to decipher why exactly he seemed so familiar to really take in what he had said. He felt familiar too...he felt like home. Then his words finally reached her ears, this was Asher. “Asher!” The lady exclaimed as she ran over and threw her arms around him “By the gods I thought I would never see you again” It felt amazing to see any member of her family but particularly Asher, her exiled brother who she had not so much as spoken to in years. The only communication they had was when he sent her a gold coin from Essos. The last time she had seen her brother was when they were saying their goodbyes, this was before she was put in Margaerys service back when she was just a girl who was content to run through the iron wood trees with her brothers.

Lucas nodded. Had he been asked the same thing about the feud his own family had with the Bracken’s he would give the same answer that Mira did to him. “I believe this is a matter serious enough for you to speak with your King and since Ironwarth falls in Robb’s Kingdom it should be with him who you speak with. I am sure that he will have the Whitehills sorted for you.” Lucas looked at the young woman with a startled expression on his face. “It was only my brother that was killed at the Red Wedding but we still feel his loss everyday.”
If Lucas had left after correcting her mistake Mira may well have just knocked her head against the wall a few times in embarrassment at her mistake but as it were she just fought to keep the idiocy she felt from appearing on her face “Oh do forgive me, I must have gotten false information from the servants” Which of course was a lie but it sounded much better than ‘Sorry there’s just been so much death I confused your loss with another families.’ “I understand that feeling, my father and my eldest brother were slain at the wedding. It had been some time since I had seen them last, I regret that the next time I see them will be on their funeral pyres if I get permission to take a temporary leave to attend.” As for the suggestion of contacting her King...well from a purely duty bound stand point he was her King no longer and she could not claim such without seriously wounding her new King. “I am afraid I cannot, you may recall that I am in Queen Margaerys service. I can no longer claim King Robb as my King but must consider King Renly as such, I reside in the North no longer” But oh how she missed it, each and every day the pull to return was there but she could do nothing.

“Ironwrath? You must have found it hard. I mean with the travel and change in climate.”
“The change is not only in the climate but also the people, it was certainly all a rather big shock at first. It was hard at first but through Queen Margaerys kindness I felt at home in no time, the South is as much a part of me as the North is now.”
“This would be my first time,” he responded, turning back to look at the city below. “It is… too loud. At least here one can hear the sea, though the noise of the city still bores at the back of my head.”
After a brief moment of thought, he looks back at the handmaiden. “House Forrester, you said. A Northern house.” He asks no question, but his silence seems expectant.
“It does take some getting used to, even to those of us who are used to noise” Mira agreed, she remembered when she had first come here and it had all just seemed like so much. The lady was used to the noises of the forest, the sound of Ironwood being cut, swords clashing as Ser Royland trained their men, the sounds the cities produced were so different and had taken her a while to adjust to. Mira was confused at his next words, it seemed he expected her to answer a question he had not asked though for the life of her she could not figure out what. “Yes, it is. My house is from the Wolfswood, residing in the castle of Ironrath” she answered calmly though there was just a hint of confusion in her tone, she was no mind reader and if he had a question she really wished he would just come right out and ask it. Mira’s mind was alight with possibilities as to what exactly he expected of her, being a Greyjoy he probably didn’t have warm feelings towards the Starks and her family were their bannermen...perhaps that was what he was trying to get at?
i’m not the kind of person to choose l o v e over duty.
You smile-smile-smile. Not because you are happy, no. You smile-smile-smile because everyone’s buying your lie and no one sees your t r u t h: that you aren’t okay.
we play DUMB but we know exactly what we’re doing
“We’ve not,” he asserted in response. His voice was oddly… low. Quiet, for such a brute of a man. “I am Victarion Greyjoy, Lord Captain of the Iron Fleet.” He seemed to recall some semblance of manners and bowed his head for a brief second. “I’ve come to accompany my niece here, as… counsel.”
The fact that he actually spoke actually went a surprisingly long way in easing Miras earlier unease, it was quite unnerving to have someone, especially a man as imposing as him, simply stare at you without saying anything. “A pleasure to meet you Lord Greyjoy. I am Lady Mira Forrester, I serve as handmaiden to Queen Margaery” The lady introduced herself with a curtsy returning his show of manners. “Do you travel here often?” A rather silly question given that she would have seem him if he did but it was the only one she could think to ask.
