❝i prefer winter and fall, when you feel the bone structure of the landscape—the loneliness of it, the dead feeling of winter. something waits beneath it, the whole story doesn’t show.❞ — andrew wyeth.

why is the riddler so obsessed w question marks hmm? what’s he questioning, his sexuality?
what i love about both hill house and bly manor is how they start out scary and classic horror, but the further you get, the more layers get peeled back, the more tragic it becomes. it’s easy to be scared of a ghost, but both shows delve deep into not only the tragedy of their deaths, but the tragedies and emotions and love that fueled them in life, and that led every single character, living and dead, to this place where they must confront each other and themselves and i just
The fact that the fear many feel from The Haunting of Bly Manor really comes from very real human experiences that will impact us all eventually, is so imacptful.
You will die, you will be forgotten. And even scarier you will lose people, and you will forget pieces of them. These are parts of being human, and they SUCK. But there is so much beauty and love that can be found in our time on earth. We don’t know how long we’ll have or if we’ll get to spend it with those that we hold dearest, but the fact that they’re there act as a balm on that pain. That the people in our lives are never truly gone and they fall on our timeline like confetti. Being human is so scary, but it’s the most rewarding thing we are given in the end.

episode 8. THE ROMANCE OF CERTAIN CLOTHES
Mike Flanagan really said horror isn’t death. Death can be peaceful. Death can be sad. Death is the one thing that makes us all equal. Horror is the people we become, the terrible desperate people, when we can’t accept death for what it is.

RIP my old history professor who spoke fluent Anglo Saxon and made us analyze the sexual aspect of the Green Knight by saying “basically everyone wants to fuck Gawain” you would have loved Dev Patel
