Literally i just choose to talk about things like they’re magical coincidences when in reality they’re ultimately mundane and i do this so I feel like my life is fortunate and magical and everything works out for me

people say this to me all the time about anecdotes i post on tumblr but don’t even realize 99% of them are boring things i convey excitingly or other peoples’ charming quirks i shine a huge light on. i’m sure i could do the same thing to you and you’d call it made up. everyone knows someone who knows someone who does something crazy i just happen to share it when i find it especially funny and i think tumblr would like it

Dear Grumfy,

You don’t know me, and I hope this isn’t in appropriate to say, but I learned this year that I have a terminal illness and will be dead in six months. I recently read Live a Long Goodbye, and I want to say thank you for it. I’ve been holding off reading it because of the theme, but recently decided that it was time and pulled the trigger.

I don’t have much to say that people haven’t already said besides that I want you to know it made me less scared of death. It’s still scary, but I feel that the fear I had isn’t there as much anymore. It’s funny to think that a fanfiction is what did it, but it really made me feel okay with knowing that things aren’t forever and there’s still a life to live between now and the end. You made it okay. And you made it okay that there isn’t time to do everything, because I got to do the things I did, and will get to do the things I’ll do before it’s time.

I’ve been sitting with this message to try and think of a worthy response for something that affected me so much, but despite being someone who writes I haven’t really managed to find any adequate words to describe the emotions I’m going through. Above all the largest emotion is love. I love you! And I’m happy any part of what I do has given you comfort.
