Neuschwanstein castle … again One more photo of Neuschwanstein castle taken on the same October afternoon. In hindsight, looking at all of the photos I posted from that same day and location, I have to say, I was lucky with the weather. Rain check
Isarstausee and in the distance the Karwendel mountain range. This is another beautiful location at the small lakes near Mittenwald, which I also showed in a previous post. I am definitely going back when the conditions are better for a shot with better light and perhaps snow. Isar
Isartal near the river springs in the mountains. This small river is actually Isar, very near its springs. I cycled next to it towards its springs in November. It twists and turns through the valleys, gathers water from many small creeks along the way and finally crosses Munich a hundred kilometers further north. Sunlight showers
Somewhere between Tregaron and Abergwesyn, just after the Ffrwd Camddwr Waterfall. The lake doesn’t seem to have a name. I took this photo on the epic mountain route between Tregaron and Abergwesyn. Through the heather

River Inn 12 years later
River Inn. I took this shot a few weeks ago, during a morning walk along the river Inn. It reminds me of another shot, taken in 2013. Same river, similar autumn morning almost the same location but on the opposite river side. 12 years for us is a considerable time, for the river nothing but a heartbeat. Graced by the light
Neuschwanstein Castle This is another shot taken on the same day and from the same location as this one. I had to stand at the same spot for more than 5 hours, but I was lucky with the weather, which was very changeable on the day, rotating from clouds to rain, to sun over and over again. The veiled mountain
Lautersee, at the border of Germany and Austria Near the German-Austrian border, there is a small town called Mittenwald. From it you can reach this small lake with a 15 minute walk. I recently enjoyed a rainy but beautiful hike in the region. By the end of the hike I was thoroughly wet, but the scenery and the photos I made were worth it. © Epameinondas Stamos 2025.
The gorge that keeps on giving
Partnachklamm … again. Maybe it’s just me, but I really do like this type of photo, which is kind of abstract. I took this photo in 2023 but back in 2016 I had taken another similar photo, which is better than this one and one of my all time favorites. But this one isn’t bad either.
