I (and a few other people across Twitter and Tumblr) have received a few messages regarding the Kagebros tracing situation and I'm a little concerned that these messages don't so much address the issue at hand (traced art being sold) and instead deflect to putting blame on Sisi, an artist that to my knowledge was not involved in the original discovery or the callout post. Unlike the tracing, I was given no evidence and pointed to no sources for the accusations against Sisi which really worries me, to say the least.

I'm disappointed in Kagebros for continuing to sell the confirmed traced material on their Etsy store despite their apology post. I double checked while making this post just to make sure this statement is still true, the pieces are still up there with no disclosure. But I am even more disappointed in these individuals who are going to people's DMs and inboxes directing attention away from the real issue here.

I was the first person to notice Kagebros was tracing official transformers Shockwave art for a poster they were planning on selling.

So I said something about it and after that more people noticed and pointed out that a lot of the artwork they have been selling/gifting was traced from official comics and promotional art.

Because of this Kagebros has claimed they are being bullied.

This has been claimed to be -

Because they are an ethnic minority. (Yeah cool so are a lot of the people you are accusing of bullying you)

Because the people calling them out are stalkers actually.(Taking a photo of the traced art at your TFCon booth isn’t stalking)

Because it's a nitpick and tracing art to sell is normal and not a shitty thing to do.

Because actually don't talk about how they were selling traced art the people making these claims are actually the shitty ones and also they are proship (l don't know why this is a factor, what does that have to do with tracing).

I'm sorry if they didn't know tracing art that way was bad and they apologized and their feelings are hurt because people who have a problem with them publicly selling stolen art didn't personally talk to them in private about how that's a bad thing to do. I’m glad they apologized but all the good intentions in the world won’t do jack if they don’t stop doing the thing they are apologizing for.

People are upset they traced art and are still selling it.

This isn't more complicated than that.

At the end of the day I can’t actually force Kagebros to stop tracing and selling or giving away that art. I’m not going to report them to the sites they are selling on. I’m just going to give my opinion on what kind of person does that and then has their friends go out and harass others on their behalf.
