“Oh we got ourselves a loner type! No worries, I promise I won’t bother you unless i’m dying. And even then, I probably won’t bother you.”
“You’re right about that, definitely. I guess you could say that I’m the loner type, I’ve alwasy been that way. Thank you for respecting that, no one else ever does.”
Letting Eli hold onto his hand as they walked. He wasn’t always happy with the other holding his hand, he still didn’t like too much pda but he loved Eli so he was getting better. “You want to go to jail? I mean we can try the whole skinny dipping thing later at night. I don’t want to go to jail and that might be fun.” Hunter looked over their room, a mess and probably his fault, he’d been in a hurry when he left for the gym this morning. “I’ve been to lakes and rivers. Same thing right?”
There has been plenty of times where Eli has held Hunter’s hand in public and forgot the way that he felt about it. From the beginning of their relationship, Hunter wasn’t always fond of public displays of affection. That was something that never bothered Elijah. He could wait until they were alone, but holding his hand naturally became an instinct that he couldn’t control. “Skinny dipping? Mm, that’s something that I could look forward to.” Closing the door behind them, he stepped in and moved closer to Hunter before pressing his lips against the back of his neck. “Not exactly the same thing, but close.” Taking a step from behind him, he began to shed himself of his clothes to put on his swim trunks.
“Awhile back when I was on vacation with my family we went snorkeling to go see some weird reef or whatever and I almost drowned. I’ll go swimming from time to time but I really can’t stand it.”
“Oh, wow. i can understand why you’re sared then. If I would’ve gone through the same thing, I would be pretty spooked by the water too.”
“At least I was already into guys when Blake seduced me. I mean, it’s all worked out in the end. If you both want it to work, then the honeymoon state will be safe.”
“Exactly. Hunter took a little bit of time and determination, but it all worked out. We had a rough start, but since our first fight we haven’t fought since then. I guess that counts for something. I try to keep it in that state as much as possible. Though, you more than likely know more about keeping a relationship than I do.”
“Well i’m extremely good at catching hints. Absolutely not, being an introvert isn’t a bad thing at all. In fact, I believe being an introvert is actually really helpful when you travel.
“i think everyone around here has just gotten used to it. is it? i didn’t think it would be a good thing, especially if you’re not new to the culture.”
“You’re a doctor?? Did you work in a hospital or did you have a private practice? I worked in the ER as a trauma nurse. Maybe i’ll just try some local cuisine, i’m sure the food here is freaking amazing! Plus, i’m pretty sure you can buy some cool stuff really cheap down here so yeah I need to stock up on my stuff.”
“I worked in a hospital -- doing a lot of residency, still working my way up to becoming a neurosurgeon. Sounds pretty prestigous for a man who has ran away, yes? You can buy things really cheap? I’m glad you tell me this now.”
Rolling his eyes at the comment he held onto his hand when Eli grabbed it. There weren’t too many people around anyway. “You’re the one who wanted to swim and unless you want to ruin your clothes or go to jail my way works better.” He’d just gotten down there himself, but if Eli wanted to swim then they’d swim. The walk back up to the hotel didn’t take too long and they were able to change in plenty of time.
All he wanted was to hold Hunter’s hand. He was getting better about holding his hand in public, so he couldn’t get mad at him. “What if I wanted to go to jail? We would be going to jail together. What else would I need?” Leading him up to the hotel was a pretty short walk, making their way around to their room while tilting his head around to look at him. “Still can’t believe you’ve never been to a beach before.” Keeping his hold onto his hand, he brought it up to his lips and pressed kisses along each knuckle.
“Right I forgot your ego, I’m sure someone will kiss it better and tell you how smart and wonderful you are. I mean I wont but someone will. I’m just saying you say ‘Elijah Carlson’ to someone they’re not going to know who it is. But Einstein? Everyone knows him.”
“I’ll go tell Hunter, he’ll kiss it better.” He spoke with a grin, folding his arms across his chest while displaying the evident smirk across his face. “You sure do know how to make a guy feel special, don’t you?”
“You’re paler than I am so let’s get sunscreen on you.” Stepping away from him he knew they’d just end up standing here if they didn’t actually move now. “I didn’t forget that but you haven’t said it since I left this morning. And I love you too.” Tugging on his hand he pulled him towards the hotel, “We need to change come on.”
“Whatever you say, sir.” He couldn’t stop his grin as he folded his arms across his chest before letting them fall back down to his sides. Knowing t hat they needed to get a move on or else they would end up tangled in each other before they knew it. “Good --” A chuckle escaped his lips, gripping onto Hunter’s hand as he was being pulled behind him. Watching him was always enjoyable to him, especially when he took control over any situation. “Fine, fine, let’s go get changed.”
“Wow you’re tough, good job. That’s true, i’m more scared of the water so i’m not going to be swimming at all while i’m here.”
“You’re scared of the water? Do you mind if I asked why?”
“Yes, the things we put up with for those beautiful faces. You must be doing well, though - still early days, those are always good. I think me and Blake have just found ourselves in this constant…honeymoon state.” But then again, that was probably due to the fact that they no longer had to hide being a couple, which was certainly new to the darker haired man.
“The things we put up with, the things that we go through. I swear, poor Hunter had to deal with my persistence until he actually agreed to go out with me. We’ve done pretty well so far, but like you said, we are in that honeymoon state. I hope that it stays that way, even when times get hard.”
“You’d think being a nurse i’d be more careful about my tanning skills. I’ll try not to stay in the sun too long, I want to see some sights while here, do you know anything really cool to see while here?”
“You’re a nurse? I know that this is going to sound bizarre, but I’m actually a doctor. I wish I could help you out with the sight-seeing. I’ve relaly got no clue where to start.”
“I appreciate how smart you think you are. It’s pretty fun to hear you talk about. Wasn’t he like a scientist or math guy? I know he was smart but I don’t really know what he did. Who cares about everyone else?”
“Correction -- how smart I know I am. You doubting my intelligence is really insulting, didn’t you know that? He was a very smart man, and you’re telling me that I’m not as smart? You’re right, I really don’t care.”
“Even if we try to sleep on opposite sides of the bed we end up together so yeah… I think a sunburn would be a problem.” Letting himself be pulled forward Hunter pressed his lips to the corner of Eli’s mouth. “I like the complements sometimes. Other times you just say them to annoy me. Right. Hate most people, love me. Anything else you think I’ve forgotten in the hour or so we’ve been apart?”
“Which is why we need to avoid sunburns at all cost. Just because we are going to want to cuddle and touch each other.” The moment Hunter’s lips pressed against his mouth, he couldn’t help but smile while his hands spread out across his back. “Anything I think you’ve forgotten ---.. wait, did we touch on the fact that I love you?” Of course, he knew that they had. That didn’t mean he wasn’t allowed to tell him again.
“Yes, unfortunately I have found some way to put up with him and his antics but it’s well worth it, he’s very good in bed. How long have you and Hunter been together?”
“The things that we put up with for the men that we love, right? I mean, Hunt is such a troublemaker. We’ve been together for a bout two and a half months now, we met on the trip.”
“Blake is my boyfriend, we’ve been together for almost a year now. So yes, I would like to think I know the little runt.”
“You two are together? And for almost a year? That’s pretty nice, Hunter and I aren’t even close to the year mark.”
“Oh I moved to the USA when I was 16 so it’s not like I came here specifically for this trip. But I’m here because well, Blake wanted to take a break from school and I wanted some inspiration for my books.”
“Oh, I see -- that makes some sense when you mention that. Blake? You knew Blake before the trip? He’s the only one around here I can completely tolerate besides Hunter.”
