jamie had his head leaned back, staring up at the trees as they spoke– talked about everything from her audition last week to the families they had both grown up in. and not once had he ever felt more at peace. it was idyllic, away from the city, away from their normal lives. just the two of them. together. there was something about cathy, he had felt it from the day they met, that was purely magnetic. he wanted to be around her, be with her, be a part of her life. but maybe this was moving a bit too fast. they’d been together for… four, no five, months? jamie had lost count somewhere in the weeks that flew by. “wow.” he sat up and turned to look at cathy, his brows raised, taking a moment before he spoke again. “i like the way you think. why don’t we start looking for a place? and maybe we don’t tell your parents about this thing just yet?” i know when a thing is right– jamie liked the sound of that. her confidence, their love… truthfully they could do better than the rest of their friends and family, together.
when they were together, it was like the whole world stopped around them- fading and blurring until it was just the two of them. she’d never felt this way about anyone, and it scared the hell out of her to say out loud just how crazy she was about him. the moments before he spoke seemed to drag on for an eternity, and she realized mid-way through that she was holding her breath, eyes searching his for an inkling to what his response would be. “– really?? i mean, yeah of course, we don’t have to tell anyone until we’ve found a place.” she replied, excitement washing over her, breath exhaling in relief as excited laughter passed her lips. “besides, who cares what they think, or what they want. i just want you.” cathy told him with a bright smile, hand stroking his cheek gently. it was true. since she moved to the city, she’d been waiting– waiting for something amazing to happen, and she was starting to realize that this was it.

“-- let’s move in together.“ the words left cathy’s lips without a second thought. legs tucked underneath her, she looked up at jamie from where her head was resting on his chest. dark hazelnut eyes met the crystal blue ones she’d grown so found of, and she was amazed at how good it felt to be here with him in this moment. they’d pulled over on their way to home from her parent’s house to sit in the back of his convertible under the vibrant green trees-- just enjoying the rays of sunshine peeking through the branches. the whole drive down, she’d opened up to him for the first time about her last relationship, and her best friend from high school-- two of the things that shaped her into the version of herself sitting beside him. “... i don’t mean to put on any pressure but, i know when a thing is right.” the brunette continued, joyful laughter bubbling up within her, “i mean really, just think about it. -- think about what we could be, think about how i love you and say you’ll move in with me.” ever since the day that they met, cathy had been swept up in the boy, falling in love faster then she knew possible, and completely unable to ignore the feeling that this was what her life had been leading up to all this time. “we can do better then any of the people in this bullshit town.”
When we get to my house, take a look at that town take a look at how far I’ve gone. I will never go back, never look back anymore.
