“why don’t you go and talk to her when we get there? I give you permission to leave my side and go to her.” she shrugged “I’ll have a glass, nothing more than that. you know I don’t drink.” she took a deep breath and with her free hand she flattened her dress “do I look okay?” she asked looking over at the male, a worried look on her face. “i hate you.” she mumbled with a smile as her attention turned, she squeezed his arm tightly as they entered the room. she could see her sisters and parents already standing at the end of the room, a relieved look on her fathers face knowing that she had finally showed up. a more curious look on her mothers face as to who was escorting her.
“thanks for the blessing, maybe i will. -- and don’t worry, you know i’ll drink enough for the both of us.” as they stood on the steps he couldn’t be more relieved that they were going in together. having one of his best friends at his side gave him the motivation and comfort that he needed to make it through this mundane event. “you look gorgeous lyds.” he told her sincerely before chuckling at her response to him. after his whole life of watching his father and older cousins at these kinds of functions, henry was a natural at charming anyone and everyone needed. confident grin puling at his lips, he walked lydia with him halfway down the hallway, ignoring the stares and whispers around them. leaning over to her so his lips we close to her ear, he told her he was going to grab them drinks before heading into the next room over.
