A new endorsee!
Baltimore, MD; January 10, 2018 - Clinicians for Progressive Care proudly endorses Dr. Beth Liston, MD, PhD , for the Ohio House of
It's time to pump up the volume and let you know about our endorsees so YOU can VOTE THEM IN.
So -- drum roll -- here is #TeamUniversalCare for #C4PCMidterms18.
Today - Beth Liston.
She is a neighbor, ,friend, and professional in the district, a physician and a nationally renowned expert on how collaboration can make patients healthier. For her, fighting systematic racism means tackling education, housing and health care.
We're excited about this progressive candidate for Maryland Assembly representing NW Baltimore!
Please sign the petition. “Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar must resign (#AzarMustResign)”
Health professionals need to go beyond moral outrage and make a united, vocal stand against our nation’s immigration policies of separation and detention WHAT: On 6/30 we will be a visible ‘white coat’ contingent supporting the #FamiliesBelongTogether rallies nationwide. All of us in health, together, using our voice and special position in society to make a moral case against this inhumanity. WHERE/WHEN: We’ll meet at the southeast corner of Patterson Park at 10:30am and congregate as a group together before joining the main rally here (make sure to RSVP and share their link too): https://act.moveon.org/event/families-belong-together/20720/signup/?akid=&zip=&source= *Location/time could change, please check back* WHO: Health professionals of all types - nurses, therapists, doctors, dentists, social workers, techs, paramedics, and more. Students, retirees, everyone is welcome. Optional sign up/be in touch here: https://goo.gl/forms/QiWnE6mWELx4zXdh2 WHY: A visible contingent of health professionals in white coats and scrubs will do a few things. It will show solidarity with other rally attendees. It will help us go beyond outrage and act beyond clinical care. But most importantly, it will make a strong stand that nurses and doctors oppose the irreparable trauma caused by our nation's vile policies toward immigrants. It works, and can even get media attention. Here’s is what we did for March for Our Lives and for the Poor People’s Campaign, and we can do it again! http://bit.ly/WhiteCoatSolidarity HOW (beforehand): 1) We meet adjacent (see above) to the official rally site beforehand so we can find each other and attend as a group. One solid group makes more of an image than sprinkled throughout! 2) Come in your white coats or scrubs so we can create a strong visual image. Cover your employer’s name from your attire to make clear that you are speaking for yourself as a health professional-citizen, not as an employee. 3) We need to get the word out beforehand - spread the word here! Share this Facebook event locally and spread the word nationwide by either sharing this list, or reaching out to friends in other towns with their specific event. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1l7hG5jPuw_wYHzww10h0Ulzr5hXUyockanTPDE_-6Mo/edit# 4) Make signs specific to health, e.g. “Separation Is Health Harm” https://www.aclu.org/files/family-separation/fbt-printablepdf.pdf HOW (during) 1) Get to the adjacent meet up spot early. Take a group photo before joining the actual rally. 2) Share photos on social media! Consider using both hashtags #WhiteCoats4FamiliesBelongTogether and #FamiliesBelongTogether 3) Be prepared to be interviewed by the media, who often single out health professionals in the crowd. Have 1 sentence ready to go. Emphasize your ethical duty to speak out against not just the health harms but also the immorality and inhumanity of our immigration policy. Take photos and share on social media! FACT SHEET: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1tOMlSezNPnsx_vBa-J4k9SRn24a7QrZKPituUbUHTDg/edit?usp=sharing INTERESTED IN ORGANIZATIONAL CO-SPONSORSHIP?
