Charging at The Tapoco Lodge in Robbinsville, NC, with EVSE charger installation by Black Bear Solar Institute. Chargers are located a bit towards the far west end of the property in the parking lot for the "Tin Can Theater". Both J1772 and 80amp Tesla HPWC. MYTH: EVs don't have enough range. You'll be stranded when you run out of electricity FACT: Americans drive an average of 40 miles per day, according to the U.S. Department of Transportation. Most new battery electric cars have a range of at least double that and can be charged at any ordinary electrical outlet (120V) or publicly accessible level 2 or quick charge station with a faster charge. At present, all it takes is a little bit of planning for EV owners to use their cars on heavy travel days. Alternatively, a plug-in hybrid such as the Chevy Volt or Hyundai Sonata PHEV can go at least 400 miles on a combination of electricity and gasoline.
