So my mom is insanely talented and was sobbing when she found out about Leelah’s passing and her (and many others’) unsupportive and transphobic parents. She desperately wants to give every trans youth a hug and tell them that they’ll be alright but she can’t reach out to everyone. So she made these.
“I don’t need eyes to see the real you, or a mouth to tell you who you should be. Just ears for listening, and paws for hugging. You are perfect to me.”
Each bear is made with 100% eco-friendly materials (including hemp stuffing!) They are very durable and extremely high quality. AND! 50% of all proceeds goes directly to the National Center for Transgender Equality!
This is her Etsy store.
This is also her GoFundMe page so she can continue to make bears!
She’s trying really hard to give back to our community in the best way she knows how and she really, really does care about every single one of us.
July 25 2015 - Haiti marked the 100th anniversary of the first U.S. invasion of the country with protests in Port-au-Prince under the slogans of “Enough” and “No More Occupations”.
One hundred years ago, U.S. corporations turned Haiti into a source of cheap labor and 400,000 workers were forced to go to other parts of the Caribbean and work in U.S. enterprises. The anti-imperialist protesters demanded the withdrawal of U.N. forces and reparations for historical losses inflicted on Haiti.
As one protester said “The goal of this march is to say: Death to the dictatorship. Death to the occupation. Long live Haiti and the Haitian people. The USA are terrorists”. [video]

This is Susan Robinson, one of the last people in the country who can preform late term abortions after the murder of Dr. George Tiller. This is from an awesome documentary called After Tiller, about the last 4 late-term abortion practitioners in the country.
This documentary is so so powerful and also available on Netflix! I highly recommend it
it’s also on youtube: https://youtu.be/rvavyqrmbWc

No one wants to admit how insidious a role the porn industry played in this terrifying case of 280 Pakistani children sexually abused by adults in Kasur. Their videos of them being raped and molested were sold to gay and straight porn websites. No one wants to talk about how incredibly involved the global sex industry is when it comes to these very common, very pervasive cases. For a simple reason: it brings our attention to the consumer base of these industries. You can bark all you want about how porn and sex work ‘empowers’ you in your most likely white, middle class experience but the truth is, for the majority of the world involved in the porn and sex trafficking industry, the biggest demographic is of women and children forced into these forms of violence, their families silenced by local law enforcement and their own abject poverty dictating their lives. Fuck you all who continue supporting and watching and enjoying porn; you have blood on your hands.
Please unfollow me if you support pornography or prostitution as ‘empowered’ forms of work. I don’t need your fucking ahistorical, sociopathic presence near me.

“These are some of the questions trans and author activist Janet Mock asked Fusion journalist Alicia Menendez during a rather brilliant segment highlighting the problems the media still has interviewing transgender people.”
This is such an important conversation. Thank you, Janet Mock, for shedding light on the issues that are CONSTANTLY being overlooked. Reblog, tweet, share, spread the word. It’s time these questions STOP being asked.
