He was somewhat determined, really and truly, not to take anything Kairi said personally. He knew she didn't mean it that way, he'd been trying to be a little better about that, but it still took a moment to swallow, compose himself, remind himself with a deep breath and a smile that only looked out of place at first. Hopefully.
"Right, okay." Riku agreed mostly to himself, trying to get some practice in on letting the tension roll off of his shoulders. The promise of cake actually helped, a little. "I keep having to get used to calendars. Months aren't universal." He tried to shrug as nonchalantly as he dared before making the realization out loud. "Guess I should have brought cutlery, too."
"You... worry too much about things, Riku." She gave him a sad smile. "It's cute! And... also sad. Mostly sad? Hm." Kairi hummed in thought.
"I'm sure we can get forks on the pier, probably?"
