hello for the love of god hi. if you have a chronically ill/disabled loved one who is constantly flaking on plans, unable to attend events due to illness, please please please keep inviting them to things anyway. being excluded from events due to illness or the assumption that we won't be able to attend is the worst feeling, even if the assumption is true. a cursory 'hey we are planning to do xyz, i know this thing isn't always easy for you but we'd love to see you there if at all possible' truly means the world. better yet, make plans with your chronically/ill disabled friend in mind and help them navigate the accessibility of it all or choose what you do together. failing that, if you haven't explicitly been told to stop inviting them to things, continue to include them in your plans because being deliberately excluded hurts like hell

every time i have a not-terrible experience with a doctor i'm like 'wow i'm so lucky that was a good experience since soooo many chronically ill/disabled people have bad experiences in medical settings 🙂' and it's like. doctors should treat patients with dignity, care, and respect as a given, it shouldn't be something we have to feel grateful for. and also!!!! i've left doctor's appointments feeling belittled, gaslit, neglected, and traumatised more times than i can count, not to mention been given misinformation about my condition(s) that the doctor is supposed to be an expert on. one good experience with a doctor doesn't cancel out all the negative ones. we shouldn't have to be grateful for the bare fucking minimum as chronically ill/disabled people.

I don’t have time to unpack my full thoughts on the whole argument of ‘you shouldn’t be a burden to the healthcare system’ but I would like to chime in on it:

so, all athletes should immediately stop playing sports. construction workers, anyone with jobs that put them at risk, they need to find different employment. people with uteruses shouldn’t ever get pregnant, either. actually you know what? don’t enter a car or vehicle at all! and don’t even get me started on old people. what age do we think they should just give it up & throw in the towel? 50? 60? after that they become way too burdensome. it’s a problem.

Something I think about a lot is when dj khaled spent a day lost at sea on a jet ski literally just because he drove away and got lost and started live posting about it and as he got increasingly panicked he started making like inspirational insta stories about his opps wanting him to fail even though he was entirely responsible for the situation and just started saying shit like “they don’t want you to WIN. they don’t want you to get found when you’re lost at sea in the dark”
