may I request some cody/fox, a reunion?
(At first I was thinking about some post order 66 angst, but then I was like, you know what? No, let's write some fluff)
Itâs been a while since Cody has been on Coruscant, a very long while. Too long, if you ask him.
Donât get him wrong, itâs not like heâs having doubts about his duty, or that he truly feels in need of a vacation, but war is a heavy thing, and heâd prefer if heâd be able to get even just one day to relax more often than he does now.
Oh well, he supposes thereâs no use in complaining about it now that heâs finally gotten a day of leave, though heâll make sure to mention it to general Kenobi sooner or later - after all, he could use a few more days to rest as well.
Now, however, thereâs something else in his mind: what should he do now, to pass the time? Heâs got a nice night of sleep already, so he doesnât really feel the need to stay in bed anymore.
⌠He could be bother Fox. He really, really, wants to go bother Fox - he hasnât seen him since forever, it feels like - but heâs afraid that he might interrupt him while doing important work, and thatâs not something he wants to do.
In the end, even if he does, whatâs the worst that could happen? If heâs really busy, Cody will leave, and theyâll meet another day, though he really hopes heâll get to spend some time with him now - he truly missed the motherkriffer.
Yeah, heâs going to the Guardâs headquarters. Heâs made his decision, and if he decides to bring with him a bottle of wine that general Kenobi has gifted him, who are we to judge?
On his way to the corriesâ headquarters, heâs managed to find a couple of shinies and ask them about Foxâs whereabouts. According to them, he should be in his office, meaning that, likely, he shouldnât be busy that day, or at least not busy for important stuff, so, after thanking the guards, Cody keeps walking with an eased mind.
He canât help but to wonder how Fox is doing. Unfortunately, they havenât been able to keep much in contact, so he doesnât really know; what he knows is that Fox does have a bit of a tendency to overwork himself, even with Thorn and Stone to keep him in check, which is worrying, but he trusts in Foxâs good judgment - maybe he shouldnât but oh well, he has faith in him.
In the eventuality that he finds him in deplorable conditions, heâll force him to take a break. Itâs as easy as that.
Has Fox missed him? He canât help but to wonder.
As for him, heâs missed him and quite a lot too, but sometimes Fox can be so hard to read, so unreadableâŚ
Cody shakes his head. He shouldnât worry about this kind of stuff, after all, this is how Fox is and how heâs always has been, and heâs never loved him any less for it.
Besides, heâll find his answer soon enough. He just needs to get to Foxâs office.
He just lightly knocks on the door, and he already he can hear Fox yelling from inside.
âThorn, I swear to the Force! I told you--â
But the door opens, and itâs not Thorn the one stepping inside, butâŚ
âHey, Foxy,â the other greets him, using the nickname Thorn has given him and that he hates, but all the things that he wanted to say are cut off by an unexpected hug, as Fox gets up and reaches for him with an incredible speed, so much that it takes Cody off guard - and almost makes him drop the wine. âCareful!â
Itâs like the spell has broken, as Fox pulls away, clearly flustered.
âUm, yeahâŚâ he mutters, clearing his throat. âHi Cody. Why are you here, bothering me?â
âI missed you too, Fox,â Cody says, instead of answering, shaking his head. As if acting all annoyed is enough to cancel the fact that heâs basically thrown himself at him then moment he stepped in.
The admission seems to work, at least, because Fox visibly relaxes, looking less embarrassed than before.
âWell,â he begins then, walking to the couch - and not the work desk, which Cody considers already a win. âYouâre the one whoâs been running across the galaxy, but Iâm sure youâre here to tell me everything about it, right?â
Heâs looking at Cody expectantly, and what else can he do, then, but to join him?
âOh yes. You wonât believe the things Iâve seenâŚâ
And so he begins talking and talking and talking, retelling Fox everything that has happened since theyâve last seen each other.
Sometimes he gets interrupted by a question or a comment from Fox, who looks very interested by what Codyâs saying.
âHow can I know youâre not shitting me?â he asks at some point, however, though itâs more of a joke than an actual question.
âIâm not shitting you, I swear!â Cody replies, before downing a gulp of wine straight from the bottle - who needs glasses. âNow, can I continue, or not?â
The more Cody continues, the more Fox inches closer, and the more Cody leans towards him in response. Eventually they end up with Fox having thrown his legs over Codyâs lap, head comfortably resting against his shoulder as the other gestures wildly, narrating his last misadventure with general Kenobi.
He doesnât say anything as he reaches out for one of his hands, softly intertwining their fingers together, and Cody doesnât either, though a warm sensation spreads inside him at the gesture.
This isnât how Fox usually acts, which is a testament to how much time has passed since theyâve been able to see each other in non-dire circumstances. This time, thankfully, they can just sit down and relax, enjoying each otherâs company, and neither of them wants to miss this perfect occasion; thatâs why, at some point, Fox decides to interrupt Codyâs narration with a kiss, and whoâs Cody to deny him?
He eagerly kisses back, and thatâs all Fox needs to move further, wrapping his arms around him and pulling him closer, as close as he can, like he canât get enough of him.
⌠Eh, it seems that, in the end, Cody really has gotten his answer.
