Habits
{here i am having the really bad habit of posting things late, i’ll get better!! i promise!! this was requested by @wan-wan-kenobi ! i hope this is fits what you requested!! sorry if it’s a little short}
tag list: @igotanaddixon @twistnet @fxndxmxnxce if you’d like to be on the tag list let me know!!
You’ve been growing quite a habit, something that was so little that you didn’t really quite notice at first. As a mechanic of the 501st battalion you get to know quite a few troopers, some with bubbly personalities or very quiet. You’ve recently befriended a tight knit group of troopers who were sometimes a bit of troublemakers, except for maybe the medic Kix who seemed to try his best in making sure that they didn’t get hurt.
One particular trooper you’ve begun to grow an interest in was an ARC trooper named Fives. A passionate man who cared for his brothers, but was also in turn reckless and could be a bit clumsy. He practically tumbled into your heart when he came by to check on you. Fives was trying to walk over to you but just tripped over one of your tools. It was funny, but sweet that he would think of checking up on you every now and again. For the most part though, it would be out of pure surprise when you’re working and you wouldn’t know what to talk about. You’d feel guilty and awkward but would make up for it later; however, now you’re trying to find every excuse to talk to Fives or see him. You would also specifically greet Fives in conversations and didn’t realize it. One day you were going to the cafeteria and spotted the group. They were all sitting at one table, eating the rations that the cafeteria always served. You grinned, happy to see that Fives was there with them. You quickly grabbed a plate of food and headed over to their table.
“Hi guys, hi Fives!” You greeted cheerfully. Fives waved at you and scooted over, allowing some space to sit next to him. The others were chuckling quietly for whatever reason as you sat next to the ARC trooper. You didn’t really think much of it, you just happily munched on your food and talked to the guys. It was mostly stories about what had happened on the last mission, Kix practically scolding Hardcase for always running into battle and Fives laughing along. He perked up hearing his comlink go off and he groaned, getting up and taking his empty plate. “Duty calls, I’ll see you on the front,” He paused, then looked at you with a sly smile, “And uh...I’ll see you later?” You nodded at him with a smile and watched him walk away. “Why don’t you two just kiss already?” Jesse teased, causing you to blush and pick at your food. “What? I...don’t understand.” You stumbled over your words. “Oh c’mon Y/N, you can’t act like you don’t love the guy,” Hardcase said, clasping his hands together and mustering up the best impression of you, “Hi guys, oh and hi Fives! Wonderful to see you here!” You scowled at Hardcase and rolled your eyes. “I do not sound like that.” You grumbled, Hardcase laughing. You looked to Kix for some kind of support and he just shrugged. “It’s kinda obvious Y/N.” Kix responded, you groaning and getting up with your plate. They were trying to call you back but you were already gone, you had work to do. Though...could you deny that you liked Fives in that way? He was...well, wonderful! You just weren’t sure if he would ever share those feelings back with you. Later in the evening you were ready to turn in, you had been picking apart one of the broken down gunships for so long that you just wanted to lay down and sleep. You were roaming the halls, going to find your room when you suddenly bumped into something hard. You were falling over until you felt something catch you and bring you on to your feet. “Woah! You alright there, Y/N?” A familiar voice asked. You blinked and Fives was right there, hands on both of your shoulders and looking at you with a worried expression. You blushed and you averted your gaze. “Oh! Yes I’m uh...I’m okay, thank you, Fives.” You stuttered out. Fives blushed as well and he let go of your shoulders, rubbing the back of his head with his hand and clearing his throat. “Good, good…” An awkward pause was held between the two of you until Fives finally spoke. “Hey do you think...you’d want to go out for a drink at some point?” The ARC asked. You looked up at him, a little stunned but you managed to nod. “Yes! Of course, I’d love that.” You replied, a wide grin formed on Fives’ face. “Good, then it’s a date,” Fives said, patting your shoulder and walking off. Did that just happen? Did Fives just ask you on a date? You stayed in the hall for another moment before grinning, your face bright red as you continued down the hall with a skip in your step. Maybe this habit of being closer to Fives wasn’t so bad at all...

HI yes sorry, okay
i’m going to try and make a point of writing some more, i know i keep saying that but i’m starting to feel some inspiration with all these requests so i’m gonna do my best! thank you all for being so patient with me, i care u all <3
"Waking up to little one crying out in their sleep."-w/ Captain Rex
I combined this with the other request from @joycekane1. Yall ain’t ready for how soft and fluffy this is.
It wasn’t often that Rex got to spent nights with his wife and child. Tonight was one of those special nights where it didn’t matter if he was at the base or not, and he snuck off to be home with (y/n) and their little 4 month old daughter. From what he had from (y/n) when he called her on lunch, (b/n) had been finicky all day. Whining and crying on and off more than usual, she wouldn’t go down for her nap, and on top of that, (y/n) had run errands and cleaned all day. She was exhausted.
Rex got home late. The house was quiet. (Y/n) had finally gotten their little one to go to sleep and she herself was passed out in bed. She had dinner waiting for him to heat up in the refrigerator. He wasn’t hungry, he just wanted to climb into the warm bed with her. Almost as soon as his head hit the pillow and his arms were wrapped around her, he was fast asleep.
Not an hour later, he heard a familiar, distressed cry. (B/n) was wailing in her crib, her shrill cries coming through the baby monitor. (Y/n) was in too deep a sleep to hear it, but Rex was out of his bed within seconds to check on his little girl.
When he opened the door to her nursery, he could see her little legs kicking and her hands reaching up to grab what wasn’t there from inside the crib.
"Shhh. Shhh. What’s the matter?“ He asked in the quietest of voices as he picked her up and cradled her in his arms. He noticed her puffy red eyes and red nose. From the looks of it, she hadn’t slept at all.
"Having trouble sleeping, my little love?” He asked almost as if he expected an answer. He rubbed his thumb across her flush little cheek and smoothed our her soft, messy hair.
"Mirrorbright, shines the moon, its glow as soft as an ember – When the moon is mirrorbright, take this time to remember.“ He sang quietly, a song he remembered hearing on a distant planet.
"Those you have loved but are gone –Those who kept you so safe and warm –The mirrorbright moon lets you see –Those who have ceased to be."
As he sang, he rocked her gently back and forth, swaying his body. Her eyes that looked just like his, a golden, honey brown, began to flutter shut and he yawned she littlest yawn he had ever seen.
"Mirrorbright shines the moon, as fires die to their embers – Those you loved are with you still – The moon will help you remember."
As he finished the little lullaby, she lay still in his arms. Her tiny pink lips were no longer pursed with discomfort as she breathed slowly and deeply, fast asleep. As gently as he possibly could, he placed her back in her crib being extra careful not to wake her. When returned to the bedroom, (y/n) was sitting on the end of the bed, holding the baby monitor.
"I didn’t know you could sing.” She smiled, and stood to place the monitor back on the charging port.
“Well…” He was a little embarrassed. She wrapped her arms around him and rested her head on his chest. He pulled her close and started swaying back and forth, dancing with her as he sang the lullaby again.
"Mirrorbright, shines the moon, its glow as soft as an ember – When the moon is mirrorbright, take this time to remember…“

hi i’m still alive
i’M REALLY BAD I’M SORRY I’M STILL TRYING TO WRITE
i recently just got a job so!! it’s kinda been taking over
i’m still working on requests!! so hopefully i’ll get to the point where i’ll open requests again
What The Future Holds
{AAAAA HI THIS TOOK SO LONG I’M SO SORRY,,,this was requested by @musicgoddessog terribly sorry for how late this was!! i hope this fits to what you asked for <3} tag list: @igotanaddixon @twistnet @fxndxmxnxce You and Fives sat in your apartment in the living room, sitting criss-cross on the floor with Fives sitting behind you. A moment ago you had taken a shower after a long day of work, and once you had gotten out you were delighted to see Fives in the living room waiting for you. The 501st had finally gotten the rest they deserved after a long few months of battle, and Fives was finally back with you. Now he was helping you retwist your dreadlocks in your hair. It was his first time ever really doing this, but he was willing to learn for you.
“So, have any amazing stories to tell me Fives?” You asked as he twisted your hair in between his fingers. He chuckled softly, being as careful as he can with your hair. “Ah same old. Separatists mess some stuff up, 501st comes in, we save the day, same old.” You smiled to yourself and rolled your eyes playfully. “Well that’s not a fun tale.” You teased, earning another laugh from the ARC trooper. He stopped for a moment and leaned over to you. “What do I do next?” “Palm roll it, pin it up, repeat. Then move on to the next set.” “Gotcha.” Fives had always loved the way that you did your hair. He loved everything about you but...wow. He’d always been interested in learning how to do your hair, so from time to time he could help you do it. Though he’s been away so much that he hasn’t gotten the chance to learn until now. He was steady with his movements, he didn’t want to accidentally tug too hard. “What about you, (Y/N)? Anything interesting happen while I was away?” Fives asked.
“Well, the shop is going well. Rude customers per usual.”
“Do I need to give them a piece of my mind?”
“Not at all love.”
“You know I will.”
You simply chuckled and smiled. Your shop was based around selling different kinds of jewelry. You got the average amount of customers each day, some regulars, some brand new. It was a good business but, of course it came with its difficulties. Attempts of robbery, shoplifting, rude customers. What more could you expect from a place like Coruscant? But hey, it helped get you through each day and it’s a fun job to make jewelry. You’d hoped maybe after the war you could travel to different parts of the galaxy to sell your items alongside Fives. Though it seemed like such a far away dream, the war had been dragging on for awhile and Fives has to be away to fight this war. You feared for him, hoping he wouldn’t get himself hurt or worse.
“So…” You began to speak, clasping your hands together as he moved on to another set of hair to make into dreads, “How long is the 501st going to be stationed on Coruscant?”
Fives hummed in thought as his fingers went through the same movements previously, twisting your hair carefully. “I don’t expect it to be a long shore leave,” Fives admitted, “Maybe a few days if we’re lucky.”
You frowned slightly and hummed in response. It wasn’t exactly disappointment you felt, you understood his duty as a soldier; however you couldn’t help but wish for more time with him. The two of you sat in silence for a bit, slowly but surely Fives had gotten your dreads done. You played with your hair slightly before humming response. “You did well for your first time Fives, thank you.” You complimented him, looking at him with a grin. Fives didn’t say anything, simply shifting to sit next to you and taking your hand into his own. Your expression softened, a bit of worry filling you as the room was filled with dead air. He took a deep breath before speaking. “I don’t know what the future holds,” He finally spoke, looking you in the eyes, “But what I do know is that some day, this war is going to end. When that day comes...I’m going to make damn sure that you and I are settled somewhere nice.”
Your eyes widened slightly as he spoke, never breaking eye contact with the trooper. This man was too good, he deserved better than what he got. But you were just grateful for him, how caring he was for you. You smiled and leaned over, placing a hand on his rough skin and kissing him softly. Fives happily returned the kiss and looped an arm around your waist. For all you cared it was just the two of you and your love for one another. Neither of you would want it any other way, you just couldn’t wait for the end of the war to come.

order 66 didn’t happen if you au hard enough
Cody had nine cups of coffee that morning, and was vibrating into the fourth dimension so he stopped listening after “execute order six-” order six, CANONICALLY, is “get rid of your communicator as fast as possible”. So that’s what Cody hears, and that’s what Cody relays to the GAR. So Palpatine executes his master stroke and six million clones just YEET their communicators and keep going about their business.

Cold Embrace - A Clone Wars Short Fic
Author’s Note: Prepare to fucking weep bitches. (or feel a mild bit of sadness, I’m not picky)
CT-6231, aka Boots, heard it before he felt it. A shot from directly to his left. The pain came next. Good non-existent gods, it hurt. Everything hurt. It was like being set on fire and frozen all at once. The sky, he noted as he lost the feeling in his legs and tumbled backwards, was a clearer blue than the incubation liquid he’d been born in. When his head hit the ground, he heard the sound it made. It was a sickening noise. If he wasn’t seconds from death he’d probably have had nightmares about it the rest of his life.
Boots wasn’t stupid, contrary to popular belief. He knew the moment he stopped feeling the pain, he was dead. Maybe not immediately. But he was.
He remembered, suddenly, every moment that had ever made him happy. The violent but depressingly small flood of memories almost pushed his last breath from his lungs, but not quite. Not quite.
Rex, his brother, was only a few years older, but had this horrible look in his eyes when he dropped to Boots’ side. His mouth opened and closed. As if he wanted to tell him some comforting lie.
But Boots wasn’t stupid. “S'okay, Rex,” he whispers, and a panicked feeling sharpens his dulling senses as he realizes the corners of his sight are… smudging. He schools his face, so his brother doesn’t see his fear. “I’m a clone.”
“We’ll get you to a medic, Boots, don’t talk,” Rex finds his words a little too late to comfort.
Boots shakes his head a little. “I can’t feel my toes, Rex, but damn if the sky isn’t beautiful.”
His brother doesn’t bother looking up. “Shh, don't… don’t talk, please,” he says, eyes shattered.
Boots smiles and closes his eyes. “Do you think clones go to heaven?” He whispers. “Do you think we have souls?” He shudders his last breath. “Maybe heaven isn’t real,” He wonders softly. The last thing he feels is an icy chill enveloping him- similar to an embrace. “I hope-”
The first brother Rex ever lost in battle was a shiny named Boots, and he would’ve turned 10 the following week. Boots had got his name after losing his issued boots over ten times in one week. Being the shiny’s first real battle outside simulation, Rex had promised to keep an eye on him.
And even when the alcohol had burned any sort of feeling from his face, Rex saw the nervous smile of that brother reflected in the liquor. He heard the laughter and the screams. But mostly he just saw the blood streaked on the shiny’s armor. He saw the gaping hole in the breastplate. The empty look in the golden eyes he shared.
Not a day went by that Rex didn’t whisper his fallen brother’s name. Not as a prayer, but as an apology. As if saying the word would summon some sort of release from the guilt. It never did.
His eyes had begun to blur years ago. Rex knew this day was far overdue. As a soldier, a clone, some days he was surprised he’d lived even this long. Yes, he mused, this day was far overdue.
His hands had begun shaking more recently, something that had become more of a nuisance than he’d have expected. He missed the steadiness of his fingers, the old precision in his movements. But things were slower now. Harder to remember. Harder to think…
Rex appreciated his life. How long he had with his friends. Wolffe, Ahsoka, Ezra… But he also knew he didn’t deserve it.
Now he lay in a bed, in a small house, in a field, so like the one he’d taken refuge in very long ago. He lay in the bed with the window to his left, the curtains pulled back. Outside he could see the sky. A beautiful clear blue. A strange, almost foreign thought occurs to him. “Like the incubation liquid in a birthing tank,” he whispers to himself.
He could feel it coming. The darkness. Rex knew soon that he’d go. “Boots,” he murmurs. “I’m so sorry Boots,” Tears leak from the corners of his eyes. Eyes like the sun, tears like the sky. “I’m so sorry.”
“Damn, you got old,” a voice startles him.
Rex takes a second for his eyes to adjust. A shock ripples beneath his graying skin. “Fives?” He breathes.
The young Arc Trooper leans in his armor against the doorway, not a second older than the moment he’d died. His grin, wide and mischievous as ever, stretched over his cheeks. “Look at you, you’re practically ancient,” his brother jokes.
“You… you’re dead,” Rex whispers, forcing himself to sit up.
Fives pushes off the wall and shakes his head, raising his hand. “Take it easy Gramps, wouldn’t want you to have a heart attack,” he winks.
“How?” Rex asks.
Fives laughs. “The world is a mysterious place,” he answers with a shrug.
“Am I hallucinating?” He can’t help the slightly suspicious tone in his voice.
Fives shrugs. “Maybe. Who knows?” He sits on the end of the bed, rubs his goatee. “There are worse hallucinations than my handsome self.”
Rex shakes his head. “I’m sorry, Fives. For everything. I should have-”
His old friend raises a hand. “Don’t do that to yourself, Rex. If you think for a second that I regret your life, you’re wrong. Dead wrong,” a wry smile and he continues, “Mostly… I wish I could have… had something similar. A life, I mean.”
“I know. You were just a kid,” Rex whispers guiltily.
Fives shrugs. “We all were.”
A moment’s silence.
Rex hesitates. “Are the others… are they with you?”
Fives smiles widely again. And this is a smile of true happiness. “All of them. Every one of our brothers. They’re here. You can see them if you try hard enough,” He promises.
Rex blinks a few times, eyes straining. And slowly they appear. Tup, Hardcase, Wolffe, Echo, Fox, Dogma, Cody, Jesse… all of them. Each smiling as brightly as the next. Happiness seems to fill the room with a golden light.
Tears fill Rex’s eyes. “You’re here.”
“We never left, brother,” Cody smiles.
“Not once,” Tup agrees softly.
“Is this heaven?” Rex asks, the tears spilling over. He reaches out. “Could it be heaven?”
A voice breaks the silence following his question. “Not yet, Rex,” The owner of the voice pushes through the rest of his brothers.
A choked sob escapes the old man’s lips. “Boots.”
The young man, younger than all of them, smiles. “It’s been a long time,” he says.
“I’m so sorry,” Rex attempts to blink away his tears in vain. “I failed you above them all,” He buries his face in hands bent with arthritis and age.
Boots shakes his head. “You didn’t. You failed not one of us. Not one.”
Sobs shake the old man’s shoulders. “I’m so so sorry, forgive me, brothers.”
“There is nothing to forgive,” Boots smiles. “Look at us. We might not have lived but clones have a soul, and heaven is real, even for us.”
“Even for us,” Rex repeats weakly. His energy seemed to drain, frighteningly and fast.
Boots nods. “Come on, Rex. You’ve spent your whole life fighting wars. It’s time to rest.”
“It’s not the same without you brother,” Fives smiles. “We’ve waited a helluva long time to see you again.”
“I’ve missed you all so much,” Rex says, laying back.
Boots lays a hand on his shoulder, and instead of cold, it’s warm. Like a fire on a winter night. Like the tea Ahsoka would brew when he came over. Like Ezra’s childish grin. “It’s time to come home, brother. It’s time to rest.”
Each of his fallen brothers rest their hands on his shoulders. It’s here that Rex closes his eyes forever, and slips into a warm embrace.

If you wanna be in the tag list, send me message! :)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Fives: He knew that you were angry, and he did feel a little guilty. But goddamn, you cannot resist a guy this slick. Fives will literally do the cheesiest things to make you not mad at him anymore. The boy will take you out, pay for your drinks (i mean he always does), kiss you passionately anywhere, and more intimate things ;). If his s/o is still pissed off, he’ll go to the last resort: GOING MORE OVER THE TOP Fives will put on your favorite song on a holopad and sing beautifully might i also say sexily as well as him swaying you in his arms, slow dancing with the love of his life. not even you can stay mad at him for a long period of time.
Echo: Kriffing Christ, talk about freaking the hell out when his s/o ignored him. Echo is absolutely opposite of Fives, but he damn well is A plus at being a good boyfriend. He will leave behind certain objects, like your favorite flower, or small notes saying “hope you have a great day cyare. ❤️”. At this point, you’re not even anywhere near the word “angry”. His s/o will search everywhere for him, just to find him standing in the mess hall with your favorite book, and a bouquet of red roses, just for his cyare.
Rex: The Captain has not a single clue on how to make their s/o happy during the first few hours they’re ignoring Rex. But like Fives, this suave ass Captain can also pull some stunts on his lover. He’ll make his s/o’s coffee to the crispest taste, whenever they’re around fixing a ship or speeder, Rex will kiss their s/o on any exposed skin, and he will leave you love notes everywhere. When you find a love note that says, “if every star represented how many times I’ve fallen in love with you, I’d have the whole galaxy in my hands”. His s/o isn’t even angry, they just want to find Rex, and make love to him all night.
Wolffe: oh my holy jesus. this guy doesn’t need words, he’ll make you want him in like 15 minutes. Wolffe isn’t like Rex, Echo, or Fives. He won’t openly flirt with you when his brothers are around, but when y’all are alone he will get you in the mood. This Commander will sneak occasional sexual looks around your body. If you’re wearing something tight, Wolffe will run his hand down your ass, if you have exposed cleavage, he’ll trace down from your neck to the center point of your breasts, and if you’re trying making him feel good in a teasingly way, Wolffe will punish his s/o lovingly in the bedroom. Good luck with that.
Cody: Y’all. This guy is the absolute definition of suave. 10/10 got it from Kenobi. This boy is a mix of Fives and Rex. He’s goofy, but at the same time, he will love you. When he calls you over and you turn away, he snaps into the suave mode. literally. Whenever he’s around you, he’ll hum your favorite song and Cody will run his hands down your arms aND MAKE YOU S H I V E R. He’ll place roses at your usual places with cute lover letters in Mando’a, and Cody will kiss you on the back of the neck everytime he is around you. When you finished the last repair of the night, there was a holopad saying to go to the very last LAAT gunship. Beginning to get angry again, Cody s/o rushes to the location. “Okay, that ship was supposed to be the last-” You look up to see Cody inside the LAAT with small candles, fairy light scattering the inside of the ship, the Commander of the 212th attack battalion holding some tea. “Care to join me cyare?” The two of you felt only love that night.
Fem! Reader x Platonic 501st Synopsis: Reader gets fired by Krell. Rex and co. Have smuggled items and themselves to cheer her up. TW: Alcohol _________ The Coruscant native engineer never really found the Jedi scary. They could be fierce, elegant, even intimidating, sure, but never scary. Hell, sometimes she could describe Skywalker, Kenobi, and Tano as goofy at times. But not General Krell. Krell and ‘goofy’ didn’t belong in the same system, much less the same sentence. Two words that did belong in the same sentence: Krell and Scary. Especially as he towered over the shaking engineer. Every trooper in the room was fidgeting uncomfortably as the engineer was berated with words. They wanted to intervene, but they also knew they’d be next on the chopping block and Krell could legally court martial them insubordination. So there they stood, seething in anger and thinking of thinks they should say. “Any self respecting, so-called ‘engineer’ could have fixed this problem before it even happened. And where were you? ‘Fixing’ AT-RT’s that were deemed unfit for combat. Decoding enemy technology was and still is our number priority. Do. You. Understand.?” He yelled crescendoing every word as he leaned closer and closer until the mechanic was bent over backwards to avoid being touched. Krell turned and repositioned at the window with his four arms clasped his arms behind his back. “Yes, sir, but, sir, the AT-RTs’ damage reports were incorrect! Every one of them were salvageable.” She reasoned, inching away from him and straightened out her posture. Everyone in the command center visibly tensed as she talked back. Last time someone did that, they had a lightsaber pointed to their throat. The general whipped around so fast that the engineer almost fell backwards in surprise. “Are you doubting me, Miss (Y/L/N)? Because I signed off those reports and transferred all able workforce to decoding. I thought engineers were smarter than this. So let me put this really simple. You WILL clean up the mess you could have prevented. You WILL finish this mission without another toe out of line. You WILL be dismissed from service as soon we touch down on Coruscant. And when I finished you WILL leave this room with anything but a Yes, Sir.,” he paused to ignite a saber near her cheek, “Am I making myself, absolutely, perfectly clear?” “Yes. Sir.” She responded through clenched teeth. She turned on her heel and marched herself out. Captain Rex stepped up to the menacing Jedi, “Sir, if I may. (Y/N) (Y/L/N), civilian or not, is one of the most talented mechanics the Republic has ever seen-” The General interrupted, “CT-7567, are you inferring that my judgement is inferior to yours?” With widened eyes, “No sir, I’ll go make sure repairs are being started.” By the time the Captain caught up with the engineer, she was halfway to the hangar. From behind her, he could see how her shoulders shook and every now and then she’d wipe something away from her face. She was crying. “(Y/N)! Hey, wait!” He called out after her. She halted and let him catch up. He wrapped a hand around her wrist and tugged towards the mess. “C’mon.” “Rex, you know I have to start repairs in the hangar.” She protested, voice thick with tears. “General frog face will have my head if I breathe the wrong direction.” “Then I guess he’ll have mine too.” With that, Rex led the disheartened engineer to the cafeteria. “You get something to eat, I’m gonna go falsify repair reports. We all know Krell wouldn’t dain to mingle with lowly clones and an engineer; he won’t find out.” So with a small smile and a wink, the Captain turned around and headed back to the hangar, but not without receiving a barely-there smile and a quiet thanks. Inside the mess, the glum engineer received her ration bar meal and a cup of military- grade (fake) caf, and sat down at an empty table. There as she choked down the ‘meat’ flavored ration bar, she was forced to face the harsh reality. She was losing her job. When she had joined to military, she ended her lease on her apartment, and quit her old job. The girl didn’t have any family on Coruscant, and most of her friend were the ones she graduated with from the School of Hyperspace Engineering-they joined the military too. Leaving the 501st meant leaving her family, friends, home, and source of steady income. An unpermitted tear slid it’s way down her cheek, and plipped onto her tray. Embarrassed and hoping no one noticed, she quickly reached up and used the back of her hand to wipe away the wet trail. Unfortunately, when she brought her arm down it was a tad to harshly and knocked over the cup of scalding coffee straight onto her stomach. “Ah!” She yelped as the hot drink soaked through her clothes and scalded her shirt. Reflexively, she jumped up and away from the table causing her chair to scrape backwards and fall over with a loud bang. This in turn, directed every soldier’s attention to her as she stood there trembling. This had pushed her over the edge. On the other side of the mess, Five turned his head towards the racket and found his gaze settling on the quivering girl. Without any hesitation, he abandoned his dinner and jogged over to the engineer. Placing one hand on her shoulder, he bent over to pick up her chair. Then, placing the other hand her other arm’s bicep, he cautiously asked, “(Y/N), Honey,” (He’d read somewhere that civvies used nicknames to comfort one another, “Are you alright?” It was when she started shaking even more that he asked himself if his awkward pats were making things worse. “(Y/N), are you hurt? Are you okay?” She started shaking her head before she choked out, “No.” Then in a flurry of motion, she threw her arms around his neck. He almost fell forward with her sudden dead weight on him. After getting over the initial shock, he easily supported her weight and wrapped his arms around her waist. “What’s wrong?” Another moment of her sobbing into the creases of his armor, she started to bawl out. “I don’t wanna leave! I love this job so much! Y’all are my family and my best friends. Who is gonna make sure y’all take care of yourselves and don’t blow up your equipment! Oh god, I’m gonna be homeless. I’m gonna live in a box in some slum. I’ll have to I don’t wanna leave. Fives, what am I gonna do!?” “What are you talking about?” Fives questioned softly as Hardcase, Tup, Kix, and Jesse gathered around them. Tup started to wipe up the spilled caf while Kix cleared away the caf soaked ration bar. Hardcase went to the caf machine and Jesse dug around in his pack and pulled out some smuggled in candy. “I heard that candy makes girls feel better.” Jesse whispered, elbowing at Kix’s side. “Knock it off, Jesse.” Kix rolled his eye. They almost missed it but managed to catch the smallest giggle from the engineer. Kix and Jesse both shot her brilliant smiles. “Will you tell us what’s going on now?” Fives asked gingerly, sitting her down then sitting beside her. The others gathered around the table to sit with them. The bright fluorescent lights highlighted her red rimmed eyes and flushed cheeks as she criss-crossed her legs in her seat. “I’m losing my job. Krell has deemed me unfit for service. Effective upon touchdown on Coruscant.” She said flatly. She nonchalantly sipped her caf as the group rained an onslaught of questions. “What?” “He can’t do that!” “On what grounds?” “Where will you go?” “What will you do?” “To be brief, he hates me more than he hates you. And he thinks I’m stupid.” He shrugged. “He’s stupid!” Hardcase hollered, slamming his fists against the table. “Hush, he can fire me, but he can court martial you.” She scolded. Hardcase sighed and apologized “What he means is that it’s stupid because you can engineer circles around literally anybody in the GAR.” Tup elaborated, thwacking Hardcase over the head. Another barely-there smile and empty giggle later. “Tell Krell that. Actually don’t he might actually have your head.” She mused, cracking a piece off the candy bar to pop it in her mouth. Fives nodded gravely. “Something tells me we’re gonna need something stronger than caf.” Kix smirked, standing up. Fives laughed aloud. “Y’know, I like the way you think.” ___________ When Captain Rex entered the barracks, he was most surprised to find the 501st engineer stretched out over his bed. Wearing her uniform pants, with a cut off set of blacks as a shirt. Though tight on the clones, it hung off her body- but the way she was laying it rode up over her belly button. One arm was slung over the side of his bed, loosely grasping a bottle of smuggled booze. He then realized that there were at least two more bottles being passed around the room. She was slurring giggles as the other arm waved around (more like flopped about) as she insulted Krell’s entire family line. “He looks like a frog. His mother-” She was cut off by a loud hiccup. Rex then observed the other troopers. Hardcase was laughing loudly at her insults, Jesse was rooting through his belongings for presumably more alcohol, Fives was wearing the pant from the cut-off black’s pants as a hat (the drunk mechanic was laughing boisterously at this), Tup was sitting with her with his hair down as he braided her hair, and Kix was chuckling as he dozed on his top bunk- he would occasionally slur some nonsense. A few other troopers laid haphazardly around, but noone of note. “Ahem.” Rex cleared his throat. All troopers jumped up and lazily stood at attention, well Kix fell off his bunk. Even (Y/N) stumbled up, her shirt falling back into place. As she stood at ‘attention’, she swayed from side to side with glossy eyes and a goofy smile. “Rex!” She cried, skipping over to him. The way she said it had two syllables. After throwing herself on him, (he easily caught her from dizzily falling right back off) she continued, “I feel MUCH better now.” “Yeah, I can see that.” He pretended to be cross, but she didn’t even seem to be registering it. “Nabooian Whiskey is amaaazzing.” She giggled. Some of the troopers looked uncomfortable as the Captain looked over all of them. “Fives.” He called. “Sir, yes,” He paused to hiccup, “Sir.” “You know Nabooian Whiskey is my favorite.” Finally the Captain cracked a smile, and all the troopers cheered. ______ A half hour and plenty of swigs later, the base was shutting down for the night and Rex had expertly evaded Krell’s calls. The engineer now tuckered out was sitting on the floor, propped against wall, and sandwiched between Rex and Fives with her legs laid across Tup and Kix. Hardcase was hanging upside down yet still fast asleep. “We’ll get this sorted out, (Y/N), I promise.” Rex assured, feeling the weight of her head on his shoulder. “You’re not going anywhere.” Fives agreed, snatching a blanket off a nearby cot and laying it over them. The engineer gave them a real smile, the first all day. Reaching out both hands, she took their hands in hers. “Thanks, boys.” _______ Epilouge: “We’re very sorry you’ve had to endure this. We had no idea Pong Krell had gone rouge.” Obi-Wan Kenobi restated calmly. The engineer sat before the jedi council plus Anakin(per the Chancellor’s request) and the Chancellor. “The 501st will receive as much shore leave as we can spare, you included.” Mace Windu promised. The engineer’s face lit up. “Does this mean-” She twittered excitedly. “Keep you job you may. Good work yours has been. With you, this war be ended more swiftly it might. Hmmm.” Master Yoda mused. He received a bright smile. “Besides it would be unwise to consider the orders of a proven separatist sympathizer.” The chancellor conceded. “Plus, I hear we might need some one of you- ahem- tolerance.” Anakin chided, smirking as the engineer turned red. Obi-Wan suppressed a chuckle. “Captain Rex, will you please escort Miss (Y/L/N) out as we discuss more sensitive matters?” The hologram of Plo-Koon requested. “Of course, sir. Miss (Y/LN)?” He motioned for you to follow. One last smile to the council and she followed the Captain out. Once two hallways away from the Chancellor’s office, she finally let her excitement get the best of her. She launched herself on his and hugged him tight. “Did you hear that?! I get to keep my job!” She laughed as Rex spun her around. “See? Nothing to get upset over.” __________ Requested by @istudywithtea. This isn’t my most favorite thing I’ve ever done, but I hope it’s enjoyable.
