the thing about the goldfinch "flopping" is bc it wasn't catering to the mass audience. it came out right after it chapter 2. and was competing with hustlers. like of course it flopped. it's slow it's about grief it's not action packed. it's literally bc we live in a consumer society and most normal movie watchers want something that they don't really have to Think about. it's a beautiful movie... just not a movie that was marketed well and received well by the general population. Good. bc it's not For Them. it's for us....

god this lady at work today, she was like “are you christian” and i was like haha no, and she just started preaching to me about jesus and how she was an evangelist and the blood of christ and i was So uncomfortable like, i dissociated through the entire thing
