Hi Sharee, I've lost over 100 lbs this past year (still need to drop 30 more) and you've always been a huge motivator for me. I find myself thinking about food and binging almost constantly. Have you ever struggled with this? I haven't been eating healthy or exercising lately, so I know this is a factor but I don't know what I can do with this obsession. Another problem: I've always been an all or nothing person (ALL the Oreos). Moderation has never worked for me. Any words of wisdom?
I wrote this post awhile ago, so I copied it in my reply.
Why I believe what I do about moderation:
Moderation does not work with alcoholics. You can’t tell an alcoholic “this one shot won’t affect you”Moderation does not work with drug addicts “this one hit won’t affect you, you can just bounce back to clean afterward….”Moderation works for those who never had a problem in the first place. If you have to “modify” you have a problem. If you have to hide your food in fear of judgment, you have a problem.Moderation for a regular person “wow that cakes look really good, I am going have a slice”Moderation for a person with a problem ” wow that cakes look really good I’m going to have a slice” 1 hour later “that cake is still there….I should have another piece…..” Next day “that cake is on the counter…I should have a piece for breakfast….”….”I don’t want it to go to waste…I should eat the whole thing” couple hours later “I already had cake today…I might as well eat the rest of the ice-cream just to get all the bad food out of the house in one day….because I don’t want to waste food”A person with a problem can’t do moderation!Moderation is the NUMBER one thing people on tumblr get angry at me about. And I don’t care. Most people do not get to weigh 256 pounds from following a HEALTHY way of moderation. I have my views of moderation because I was once 256 pounds. People forget that. They see me for who I am now…not who I was the majority of my life. They want to argue and say:“its ONE cookie….!” “It’s one trip to fast food” ”It’s ONE ____ (fill in the blank with anything”And that ONE might be good enough for you, but when you have/had a weight problem. It does not work that way. I can not do one….One is too many and a thousand is never enough. I will NEVER support moderation for everyone. Because we are not all the same. I will forever have the urge to eat more than you. I choose to be as healhty as i can because it’s works for me, i had a problem with food. When I “cheat” I have REALLY REALLY difficult time getting back to my healthy eating, I keep trying to justify why I can continue to eat more un-healhty things. And that is why “moderation” is a slippery slope for me and many others. I cannot ignore who I was. Because the minute I choose to forget where I’ve been, I will start to think that being overweight and un-healhty can’t happen to me….but it did. I am not immune to being overweight. I have to conitnue to make healhty choices and workout. I do not allow certain foods into my house. I will throw entire packages of food away that I know I will be tempted to eat. I have dumped out bags of chocolate chips and many things because I KNEW I would find any excuse to continue to eat more than I needed too. Moderation is NOT for everyone. and do not feel like you have to support it either. I support people to make choices for themself. And I will forever know why I choose to believe what I do.
I can really relate to this, I think its time that i stop attempting to eat food in moderation, because nothing ever gets eaten in moderation when it comes to me

To me, fat liberation is understanding that is it not my fat body that has failed; it is the culture that has failed for oppressing this body. To me, fat liberation is knowing that my body is not wrong because it is fat; it is the culture that is wrong for discriminating against and stigmatizing my body.

Unsure of how to confess your love to someone? Try this:
Acquire several dozen limes.
Go up to them and then drop all the limes.
Start picking them up, but keep dropping them. The clumsier you look the better.
Keep doing this until you have their attention (this could take up to thirty minutes).
Finally gather up the limes. Try looking a bit sheepish.
Look them deeply in the eyes and say, “Sorry. I’m bad at Pickup Limes.”
Marry them.
