back on my silly goose train and i have thoughts about how i want camp western to improve next year.

as a western rider myself i feel like the rodeo scene is such an unrepresented aspect of western riding - especially in video games - and there are so many cool areas that i think sso could really explore.

first of all, i feel like events like a more accurate barrel pattern (where you actually come out of an alley), breakaway or team roping, drill team patterns, and bronc/bull riding would be really fun to see.

events like team roping could even include more than one player at a time where both players have to time that slider mechanic (sso is obsessed with that apparently) to actually catch the steer.

drill team patterns could be pretty similar to dressage that’s already in sso, but maybe have npcs riding around you to look like a true team.

roughstock events like bronc and bull riding i would imagine could have more of a dance dance revolution mechanic with the arrow keys in order to stay on for the full 8 seconds - perhaps even with increasing difficulty.

also i would love to see new items and clothes like rodeo shirts with “sponsors” on them, straw hats (that actually look like real cowboy hats), bull/bronc rider vests, and maybe even trophy buckles that could be won during a “championship” (instead of a ribbon) that could be available during the camp western event that could be equipped to pants as your accessory.

also i would actually scream if sso made a rope that actually hung from the horn of the saddle and not from a saddle bag - but until then ill take what i can get.
