Hello! Oh, of course! ☺️

Come to think of it, I don't think I've ever really imagined the two of them together before. Personally, Fell never struck me as someone who would be particularly interested in the multiverse, so I had to think a little about what kind of situation would naturally bring them together. Still, they're both characters I really like, so I had a lot of fun drawing them.

Dream has a tendency to overwork himself pretty easily, so I think it's become a fairly normal occurrence for people to report him to Blue whenever they catch him working without taking a break again. Dream knows he'll get scolded if he's caught, so he usually tries to hide and work in secret. Unfortunately for him, he often ends up getting spotted by people who are already sneaking off to quiet corners to smoke.

When Dream has been working for several days without resting, he also develops a habit of automatically asking anyone nearby if they need help. He's usually only half-present mentally at that point, too. By then, the exhaustion is pretty obvious from the outside, so most people can tell just by looking at him that it's time to call Blue.

Seeing Blue come sprinting in while blowing a whistle and arresting an overworked Dream is probably a very common sight... It's cute and funny, but I can't help feeling a little sorry for Dream, too, haha.

Expert of Love

As I slowly work through exploring Dream’s canon character, I suppose the purpose of this comic was simply a brief introduction to his relationship with Love, (no not LOVE, though the title is definitely a pun for Killer too). There’s a lot more to explore than just this comic, but let’s start here.

Dream is demiromantic asexual. We were never really told his gender specific attraction beyond the fact he was only ever shipped with men, but for the sake of this comic I will use my panromantic headcanon. This will have zero bearing on anything. The demiromantic part is somewhat of an unfortunate orientation to have when you travel universes constantly, can’t spend long periods of times with the same people, and have almost no friends. Kind of narrows the possibilities to like… 2 people, feel free to guess who LOL.

I have never really considered love a singular emotion, and I’m pretty sure it isn’t really considered a singular one either, so I imagine Dream gets told a very wide range of emotions he can feel are “love”. Sometimes people say they’re in love and feel nothing. Sometimes people say they aren’t in love and feel very strongly. Sometimes people say they are in love and feel negativity. Whatever is happening in their head to make this happen, Dream just doesn’t know. He also doesn’t understand ANY of the cultural norms around love, as they differ wildly between universes. Additionally, any talk he has about it, he doesn’t even consider for a moment that little extra detail of sexuality because he is a sexless being with zero sex drive who had zero sexual education. So when Dream says he would still like a relationship one day, that part of it is definitely not included. He doesn’t even know he’s asexual.

some other fun details: some more minor Dream grammar errors (you know, they may make it hard to tell, but if there are unintentional errors you can tell me and I will fix them), him eating with his gloves still on (hey, listen, they’re hard to take off, he has two sets of them, and luckily monster food isn’t messy like silly human food), and of course sneaking in his canon vegetarianism, yes I am confident it is vegetarianism, there was one post on twitter we think said vegan (i mean, twitter got nuked so I can’t even confirm that), but I am very confident this was a translation error based on other info. He doesn’t like eating meat because he doesn’t need to eat and eating animals seems unnecessarily cruel. His favourite food also includes ice cream so we can probably figure it out his actual habits from there. Vegetarian, final answer.

Moving to original Underswap lore, not much here, but Sans doesn’t just make tacos, it was actually tacos AND burritos specifically, and mexican food in general. He prefers riddles instead of traps/puzzles. And, lastly, he says Wowzers instead of Wowie. Almost got me on that one, but I source check too often to slip up like that, sorry.

I kinda imagined something… what if Nightmare saw one of those rare instances where Cat!Dream fights off another cat? Would Dream bolt at the sight of Nightmare and then pretend nothing happened back home?

Hello! Oh, this is such a cute scenario! The whole thing came to mind so easily 😆

If Nightmare caught Dream getting into a fight, I think Dream would definitely be nervous. He knows that Nightmare worries about him a lot. Nightmare is always teaching him to be careful, and while Dream does listen, there are definitely times when he quietly decides that some things are probably fine anyway.

Especially when he sees a bad cat bullying other cats, Dream simply can't look the other way. He likes helping others, and honestly, he even enjoys the feeling of being praised and admired like a little hero afterward. Since Cat!Dream grows up loved and cared for by Nightmare, he doesn't develop the same sense of responsibility and self-sacrificing guilt that his original counterpart carries. Helping others comes naturally to him, not because he feels obligated to save everyone, but simply because he wants to.

Because of that, Dream doesn't back down from fights that come his way. In fact, if he feels it's necessary, he'll jump in without hesitation. Having grown up loved and cared for, Dream is confident and surprisingly decisive when it matters. So even though he knows Nightmare worries about him, he still gets involved in fights outside fairly often and keeps it a secret from Nightmare. As far as he's concerned, it's only a problem if he gets caught.

But once they're face-to-face like this, there's no way to talk his way out of it anymore. Dream is immediately struck by guilt. He doesn't regret the fight itself at all, but he does feel terrible about hiding it from Nightmare. Nightmare has always cared about him and worried about him, yet Dream ignored those concerns and kept a secret, pretending he never got into fights in the first place.

He shrinks in on himself and desperately tries to explain something to Nightmare with watery eyes, but of course Nightmare can't understand a word he's saying. Surprisingly, though, Nightmare isn't angry at all. Instead, he simply smiles softly, comforts Dream, and checks his injuries.

Dream doesn't really understand why Nightmare isn't upset, but he does understand that Nightmare still worries about him and still loves him. Even without being scolded, I think the relief alone would make Dream stop wanting to hide things from Nightmare in the future. After all, he's already experienced how awful that guilt feels.

As for Nightmare, no, he certainly doesn't like the idea of Dream getting into fights outside. At the same time, though, he's secretly proud that Dream is capable enough to stand his ground against a tough stray cat and come out on top. At least Dream isn't the one getting pushed around out there. And of course, from Nightmare's perspective, Dream being the one doing the hitting isn't really a problem at all.

He wouldn't openly praise Dream for it—he doesn't want to encourage bad habits—but he would absolutely brag about it to someone else afterward. Nightmare loves talking about Dream. He'll happily ramble on about the smallest things and turn them into stories. Granted, the person listening might not be nearly as interested as he is, but that's not exactly something Nightmare concerns himself with 😌
