This is an important announcement from Angie, the user behind the clover110342 account
If you ever see a direct message saying the following from an account ↓
and asks if this is you, avoid any contact at all cost
this user is claiming to be a lawyer working for Tumblr, and is trying to impersonate other users on Tumblr.
This includes the user "clover110342", and they're currently scamming the other users through Tumblr using the "direct message" feature
• how do the impersonator scams? •
By impersonating a Tumblr user and direct messaging the targeted user "hii, how are you doing???", the impersonated Tumblr user will ask the targeted user if this is the owner of the targeted user
If the targeted user replies with a confirmation of their ownership, the impersonator user will reply with a "confirmation" that they got a "free Tumblr membership" and link the message with a suspicious Discord server link, expecting the targeted user to join, scamming said targeted user in the process
This is a scam, do not fall for any "free Tumblr membership" scam, even if it's obvious
• what can we do to prevent this? •
If you see me messaging you this:
"Hi, how are you doing?" ← with the intent of giving you a free Tumblr membership and scamming you
I have been impersonated, and I would never give anyone a free Tumblr membership for obvious reasons! (mainly because I live in a country where 1000 CLP equals 1 dollar, I can't pay for that membership, and I'm a teenager)
Avoid replying to this message, avoid falling for this scam, report the impersonator, and delete the message at all costs!
Remember to keep your account safe, so your account doesn't get mass-reported again.
Thanks to @river-tides for warning me this^^
