HAPPY BIRTHDAY TSUKASA!!

the flowers he's holding are crocuses, which can symbolise stuff like cheerfulness, impatience, youthful joy and hope. but i didn't choose them for the meanings, unlike with Saki's birthday art. this drawing actually has a bit of a story behind it.

i started drawing this in february and i Did Not intend for this to be a birthday art, which sorta explains the dull colours lol. i live in a city full of soviet architecture, so it's not exactly pretty, especially in winter. it gets depressing. everything's this horrendous brown grey, there's no plants, and every building is made of concrete that looks like it needed a wash back when the ussr was still standing. one morning, on my way to school, i looked out the window and there was, like, a hundred of these little guys. crocuses just absolutely everywhere, all of them the same shade of orange-ish yellow on their bright green little stems, poking out of filthy dead grass that looked like it might have been sculpted out of road dust.

it was a quite striking visual, just. so much yellow. i don't think i've ever seen this many crocuses in the city. they were the first flowers of the year, and this was also the first year i wasn't too young or too depressed to notice that. that was the inspiration for this art, but with how long it took i just said "might as well make this a birthday art" and that's how we ended up here lol. anyway hope u enjoy!
