There's something very compelling about the fact that AZ is likely terrified of abandonment (going through such lengths for Floette partly because he was terrified of the idea of being alone), but he cannot bring himself to stay for others.... Unwilling to allow himself closeness, unwilling to be fully honest, always lingering a step behind everyone else in the hopes they will forget about him as soon as he's out of sight. When things are too difficult, he desperately wants to leave. Running away from his problems until he reaches a point where there is nowhere else for him to go....I think part of it is out of fear ("I will abandon you before you can abandon me")... but it's also genuinely hard for him to fathom or even just accept the fact that others want him around

still caring about internet friends you lost touch with years ago is so embarrassing. yeah i had a deam we met up irl recently. the last time we spoke was maybe 7-8 years ago. i still wear the laces we randomly decided was a sign of our friendship. i dont know what any of your socials are or if youre even active on any. sometimes i see someones art resemble yours and i wonder for hours. do you still go by that name you chose? whenever i see it i wonder if its you. we couldve passed each other in this vastness a thousand times and not have a clue.

Taking this from Twitter but thought about the idea of AZ unable to battle anymore due to his health but still encouraging people like team MZ to learn one another by battling …Wonder if him unable to battle plays a part in his jealousy at team MZ (stated at one point in game) by watching them get close and grow as trainers

He’s unable to partake in that joy and stimulating experience of battling because hes not in the “same” state as he was before - his time was running out. So in a way, he’s left out. :(

i dreamt that Pokémon ZA came out and there was already a Tumblr post with a screenshot of the game where AZ says "I came to acquire this hotel when the previous owner passed away" but his model just had the same blank eyed smile the trainers usually do in idle and the post zoomed in on his expression and was captioned "did you kill that man, az." and then someone reblogged it captioned "you're looking in the wrong direction" and it was zoomed in on floette with an equally empty smile. implying floette killed that man.
