Hey Gang! How’s it Hanging + Bakubang Speedrun 2026 Part 2??!

Hey all! How’s it going? I’ve been pondering it for a bit, and decided to go through with an additional event week at the end of the month using the same lists as the initial Bakubang Speedrun 2026 since there looks to be interest for it!!

A week I can manage—and am scheduling it for currently—is July 26 12:00AM PDT to Aug 1 11:59PM PDT! I will get some of those countdown timers up and running again soon hopefully to help you all figure out how soon that is for you!

You’re all free to work on things now for the event (yayyy pregaming) and post that week if you want, or to work as much as you want the week of and post what you make during the event! Or both! Be free, do what you want forever!!

After that, I was also pondering a fully fresh round around the time of Ryou’s birthday—in which we would collect fresh prompts one week and do another whirlwind week the week of Ryou’s bday perhaps. I’ll get more details to y’all the closer we get to that time frame if that’s of any interest to y’all 🌈🌈❤️

Perfect timing, just about a week after I finish my ongoing fic. Gives me time (and motivation) to cook up something new!

just got done rewatching the noah arc (CONTV on youtube is livestreaming the entire series in japanese and english 24/7 fyi) and I JUST REMEMBERED. the anime actually ADDED scenes of the gang caring about ryou.

see in the manga, yugi doesn't actually find out about ryou's disappearance or yamiba's date/duel with yamima until their own final duel when he shows off the ring he won, right? but in the anime, yugi and anzu show up towards the end and demand to know what yamima's done with ryou once the duel's over.

then before and after the noah arc, they added scenes of yugi looking sadly at ryou's bed and promising to save her. it's even sort of implied they think ryou rather than yamiba was the one who challenged yamima and the ring screwed her over somehow. and then the dub decides to imply yugi keeps ryou disappearing a secret from them (and anzu just goes along with it??) and pretends he's fine for no reason and never gets called on it lol.

i went to skim these eps to see what they did and yeah ok i do like that they (or at least yugi) worried about what happened to her after the shadow game and was determined to bring her back

though i will say its funny to me that after the noa stuff they cared so much about what happened to her and where she went but next two seasons poof shes gone with seemingly no mention of her whatsoever until millennium world

unrelated but it's also funny how i casually love protectshipping but this is the average honda viewing of ryou at almost any given moment:

the thing that drives me crazy is that after battle city in the manga ryou takes her ring back but in the anime yugi keeps it, which completely removes any reason for ryou to not be part of the next two filler arcs because she'd literally just be like in the cast hanging out completely harmless and normal, no need to worry about what yamiba's doing or breaking his canon because he's just chilling in a box under yugi's bed. and i know it's not otogi's fault but i've never forgiven him for it and i always write a little tension between them in my fics because of it lol.
