Something I noticed during my latest rewatch of Episode 5: while Jax does end up pretty drunk by the end, he doesn’t actually start drinking heavily until after Ragatha shares her backstory. Right here, you can see his glass is still about three-quarters full—even after she drops that emotional bomb on the crew.

Then, shortly after the disappearing guy shows up and leaves, we see that Jax’s glass has noticeably less in it.

By the end of the scene, his glass is practically empty—probably just some ice residue left at that point.

It just got me thinking—there’s clearly something more between Jax and Ragatha that they’re hinting at here, for him to suddenly start chugging his drink like that. Or maybe I’m reading too much into it and he just wanted to get drunk too. Either way, it’s an interesting little detail I noticed.
