It’s me, your local massive fucking idiot
— Gustave Flaubert, from a letter to Louise Colet (via letsbelonelytogetherr)
I dont know how to be normal..
I just want to give up.
I cant get ahold of things
There's no way to get ahead
PRINCESS MONONOKE (1997)
Listen, I have seen many a posts to the tune of "Hozier is a fae god!" Or "Florence is a fae god!" And I am here to tell you that neither of them are fae gods. Paramours, probably, maybe members of an Entourage, but gods? No.
You want to know who an actual fucking fae god is???
Kendrick Lamar.
The pettiness. The creativity. The persuasiveness. The accuracy. He had 110 million people across the nation today singing "a minooooor" like it was fucking nothing. This man has cast a thousand-year curse on Aubrey Graham's bloodline that cannot be undone through mortal means.
Now, THAT is some fae god level shit.
And then I had the thought that maybe- just maybe;
I was watching you
slowly
fall
in love
with me
one subtle gaze
at a time
consume.
Even if you are not ready for the day, it cannot always be night.
Maya C. Popa, from “Spring”, Wound Is the Origin of Wonder
Mary Oliver, “Don’t Hesitate”, Devotions
"We talked about his 2nd ex wife, Kathy, and he always made it sound like she was the one that got away.
We talked about the different cars he had, and when he lived in a tent when he first bought the property.
We talked about blueberry farming, and fern farms, and his first ex wife. My mother's mother.
We talked about how they met, what like was like when they were going together. How wild it was, and how volatile it got. But he'd always say he got my mother out of it, and me and my brother, so all of it had been more than worth it.
We talked about his parents, and I learned that my great grandfather didn't listen to music while my great grandmother listened to the radio, the black music channel.
We talked about his old friends when they were young, and his dead friends when they were old, and his living friends as they were dying.
We talked about new terms the kids use and old terms he used when he was a kid. Sometimes we'd talk about politics. Sometimes we'd talk about spirituality and psychics.
We talked about Vietnam, and how he dodged the draft by joining the Navy reserves. We talked about being on a naval ship, being over seas, being home..."
Excerpt from a chapter from a book I might write.
