“Do you play?” Zeke enquired. He had never been very good at sports, but it never bothered him as he didn’t have much of an interest in them either. “Oh, um, sure,” Zeke said, a little surprised by her offer to stay with him on the sidelines. He certainly hadn’t been expecting her to. 

“I played a few different sports throughout high school, but I stopped after graduation. I guess I just didn’t have the time- or the passion, really.” She looked over at Zeke and found herself curious. “What do you do for fun? I’m guessing it’s not sports.”

“golly?” he questions in disbelief as he looked over her. “who even says golly anymore? what the fuck?”he’s laughing slightly as he does, shaking his head as he turns away from her. “you could try be less judgemental next time you make a first impression - then i wouldn’t have minded sharing”

Clyde frowns at the man’s back, a pout forming on her lips. “I say golly,” she huffs, “see, now who’s being judgmental?” She turns back to the bar and mutters, mostly to herself, “what’s wrong with golly?”

“You’re very welcome, my dear. It’d be a total lie to say otherwise,” Alaina smiled at the girl and looked down over her own choice of attire. It was a simple little dress. Nothing too fancy, but not too casual either. “Thanks, I’m glad someone likes it. I haven’t been to one of these things in probably ten years – it was quite the task trying to figure out what was appropriate,” the redhead laughed, shaking her head as the blonde continued on with her story. “I still think it’s pretty amazing that you didn’t end up more hurt. You’re fucking awesome, don’t sell yourself short.”

“Wow,” Clyde blinked. “Ten years?” She held up her hands and counted backwards with her fingers to do some math. “Ten years ago I was in the fourth grade. That’s a long time- not that I’m saying I think you’re old or anything!”

“Is that something to do with sports?” Zeke asked, referring to the saying. Sayings often confused Zeke as he sometimes took them too literally but he thought he worked out what that one meant. “I’ve always been happier on the sidelines.” He could see the blonde’s logic but none of the activities seemed like fun to him, so how could he make fun out of them. 

“Yeah, my dad used to be a coach,” she explained. Clyde was always comfortable with crowds and people, but she could understand that some people weren’t. She took a step away from the crowd and stood at Zeke’s side. “Well, if you’re gonna be benched, would you mind a little company?”

Sitting down on the swing, Levi couldn’t help but smile a little as he gripped onto the cold chains of the swing. “I mean, well. We don’t even really know each other’s name. I would have just thought that you had other things to do or something, I guess.” At this point, Levi was just rambling as he stared out at the view that the swings had given them. 

Her feet traced circles on the ground as she looked ahead at the dark sky. It had totally slipped her mind to introduce herself. Clyde turned to Levi with a grin and stretched her arm out, offering a simple hand-shake. “My name’s Clyde, it’s very nice to meet you.”

Levi paused for a moment as he stared at her smile and couldn’t help but smile himself. He wasn’t really expecting her to be so eager. He wasn’t really expecting anyone to want to deal with him while he was high on drugs. Though part of him was curious why she stopped mid- sentence but decided not to say anything about it. “Really?” He asked sounding rather surprised. “I didn’t think anyone would want to deal with me right now.” He said as he glanced down at the ground avoiding her gaze.

“Of course, buddy.” Clyde watched as he looked at the ground. Even though they were practically strangers, Clyde didn’t want to leave him all alone- especially when he was under the influence. She fell back into the swing and gripped the chains that suspended her. “You don’t have to say it like that, I’m not dealing with you. I deal with laundry and boring stuff. I’m just hanging out with you.”

“Well, damn girl. I guess it’d be like me trying to knock over the Hulk or something. Not that you look anything like him – you’re stunning. Incredibly gorgeous. I’m impressed, though. Only two scrapes? You must have some kind of super powers,” the older woman laughed, shaking her head. Of course, she was just messing with the girl, but how cool would it have been if a person could actually have super powers. 

“Why, thank you,” Clyde smoothed down the sides of her simple dress and tipped her head towards the woman. “You’re looking very well yourself.” Then she sheepishly smiled and admitted, “I think I might’ve made myself sound cooler than I actually am. The car only touched my bike’s front wheel- I was still thrown over, but it’s a little less impressive when I tell the full story.”

“and why exactly shouldn’t i read? i’m not marking papers at least so give me some benefit of the doubt.” he rolls his eyes at the reaction, biting his lip. it was no secret that growing up he’d been a bookworm, something his family have had endless comments about over the years.

At his reaction, Clyde backtracked. Her face softened and she mentally chided herself. “Golly, that was rude of me. I’m sorry, I didn’t mean anything- I was just a little surprised that someone would wanna read when there’s so much going on.” Clyde took a seat and pushed her mask up to rest on the top of her head. “Um, what’re you reading? If you don’t mind sharing.”

he’d danced, and been social but now it seemed that half of the people in attendance had broke off into their social circles, his brother seemed to have disappeared and he just needed a minute alone now. he’d found himself sat at the bar with a book open. most people wouldn’t have bothered to bring a book along at all, most people would at least attempt to socialise the way he’d been beginning other people to do. NO, instead he sat at the bar, reading glasses on as he sipped at his scotch, only glancing up as he noticed someone approaching the bar. he was trained to be aware of his surroundings and he’d always found it hard to completely relax, even in supposedly safe environments. “should you really be having another drink?” he questions the person playfully, one hand placed over the page to keep him from losing it. .

Clyde turned with a glass in her hand. “It’s just a Shirley Temple, I promise,” she said as she crossed her heart with one finger. Her eyes dropped to the book under his hand. “Are you... reading?” Her nose wrinkled in distaste. Clyde absolutely hated reading. She always had trouble with focusing, and it bore her to no end.

The music was blasting so loud that the redhead could nearly feel the bass hitting in her chest, which was an odd feeling to her because it was how she usually measured how good a rock concert was. This wasn’t a rock concert by any means, just a college party full of students in their twenties whose sole purpose seemed to be getting drunk. At least that’s what it looked like from the outside. Alaina was trying to make her way out of the crowd she’d somehow found herself in when she bumped a little too hard against someone standing nearer to the back of the mass of people. Once she was free from the group, she turned around to face whoever it was she’d just nearly knocked over. “Shit.. I’m sorry. I didn’t realize my little weight could make such an impact.. you alright?” the woman asked, placing a hand on their arm.

Clyde stumbled a bit, but managed to steady herself enough to keep from tipping over. Her eyes landed on the hand on her arm, and she followed it up to the woman looking at her. It took her a moment to process the woman’s words, but as soon as she did, Clyde grinned. “I’m quite alright,” she assured. “I was once clipped by a car and I walked away with only two scrapes, so it’ll take more than just you to knock me down.”

“You just kick with your back foot...” Jensen’s voice trailed whenever he said that. He really didn’t know what to tell her since he kind of always knew how to skate. Or at least, he always worked on it until he got it. “I mean, I guess if you want to try it – I can probably show you how to do it.”

“That’d be awesome,” her face lit up, “yes please!” Clyde propped her bike against a bench. Then she turned to Jensen and rubbed her hands together, she was brimming with excitement.
