After a long painting break for learning purposes, here is another Wandering Inn painting to break my long silence because PLEASE READ IT

I've emerged from my Blender hole with my first try at combining 3d models with a paintover. I've actually been using Blender for a while now for lighting reference and such, but only ever with premade assets. And of course I wouldn't paint over other people's models. But everything here is sculpted by myself, so now I'm allowed!

Every time someone says she has no character development, or just dismisses the story entirely, I make a painting like this out of spite. "That'll show you!" I say to myself, not understanding entirely how I'm teaching anyone a lesson by making this.

It's fair if her development happens too slowly for your liking, because god knows it's slow as hell. But to say she has none? Extremely untrue. But also, it's shocking how many people think that her big character flaw is showing sympathy for goblins. Yeah that's not her flaw and if that's your metric for growth then okay, by that standard she never grows.

I've been going down a 3d rabbit hole the last month or two, so I haven't done a lot of 2d paintings, but I did manage to get this one out after completing Hundred Line. I promise I have at least one more painting coming that's already mid-progress!

It pains me when I see a reviewer give up early, then additionally post snippets of it to laugh about how bad it is. It's one thing to not like it, but I see it happen too often that people will read a few early chapters then declare it's one of the worst things ever. But to me, this is like taking a great sci-fi/fantasy show--let's say Buffy (standard disclaimer: Whedon is a shit person, but Buffy is a great example here)--then laughing at the terrible rubber masks on the monsters and using that to demonstrate how bad the show is. Worse still when someone is told "it gets better" and then they go and post screenshots of rubber masks from the last season to "prove" that it doesn't.

Yes, even among the fans, very few people going to fight you on that, but you've also not touched at all on why people like it! And fans can't argue with that because you've set the terms in a way that we have no defense!

Not gonna say what this series is this time, but if you've seen my posts, well, come on, you full well know.

I mean yeah, she has her faults, but I had to make this out of spite after seeing one too many people from certain circles (coughisekailoverscough) say she's "endlessly whiny and emotional" and never grows out of her flaws. Not wanting to kill goblins on sight is not a flaw, and treating sapient species like people and showing empathy is not "forcing her culture on others"!
